Binion's Coffee Shop never seemed open ?
The Binion's Grill was open w/ drunks eating early morning -
but the offerings were greasy.
.
Golden Gate was closed between 4am + 6 am ?
.
The Cal is your BEST BET.
I had "Steak Special" for $4 -
Small steak w/ mash potatoe/gravy + string beans --
I added 2 eggs for about $7 total.
I didn't need the 2 eggs .......I left them off my second time.
"Roberta's" at ElCo.....was24/7.....never there at early a.m.
.
Just an update.
Even Downtown --- was NOT 24/7.......which was one of my FAVORITE
things about VEGAS !
Poor "Vegas Club"......desolate.
.
.
July 4th weekend was.........not as crowded as previous times.
Some bartenders......didn't want to admit this.......?
But once they knew I was a "regular" - they spoke more freely.
I'm guessing a "Corporate Spin" has been passed down to employees.
.
The Strip "was crowded".....I heard....that's why I was elsewhere !!!!!!!!

From what I saw, the Strip was dead too.

Cal is 100 percent the best bet for late night eats. El Co has a limited menu - didnt seem to have any hot (as in just cooked) food. Turkey sandwiches etc but NO fries. We skipped it and went up to the Cal.

Anyone know if the the porterhouse speacial at the Redwood in the Cal is still going strong? I've been making a special trip for that deal every time I've been to Vegas the past 12 years. I know the price is getting to the point that it's not the deal it once was but I still think it is one of the better deals in town give the quality of the food, service, ambiance etc.

I certainly agree about the Vegas Club, which seems hell bent on self destruction (along with the Plaza); however, I found the rest of downtown crowds pretty much the same as in previous years. It was certainly crowded on the 4th when The Grass Roots was performing. Likewise in the Fremont and MSS where I spent most of my time at the tables.

Checknplay the yummy porterhouse special was still going on in April and I plan to get it next time we are in town. You have to ask for it though as it is not on the menu. I asked the manager before we were seated. What a bargain!!!!!

Enjoy and good luck!

I agree about the Cal coffee shop for meal specials.
A couple weeks ago, I also took advantage of the $4 steak special, available after 11 pm. The same weekend, I went back for the $7.95 prime rib special - good piece of meat and an underrated salad bar.
