View Full Version : Posting MGM Mirage e-mail offers

Due to some policy changes at MGM Mirage, I have to ask you to stop posting email offers from their hotels.
I'm trying to get confirmation from them that it's okay for you to post email offers that have a "share with a friend' option, but I do not have that yet.
Until I get that confirmation, any offers posted for one of those hotels will be removed by a moderator.
Thanks for understanding. I hope to have a firm policy from them in a short while.

FYI, since many of the offers posted here by moderators & members are offers NOT related to gambling, make sure you sign up on the MGM Mirage website(s) for their email offers.....Since those of us receiving the offers can no longer share with our friends:grrr:

I'm still having trouble getting a firm answer to my question about you sharing your email offers here on the board.
Until I'm able to get an answer, here is the best solution I can come up with. These links will take you to a page that will show you all the current offers for each hotel property.

I've received the final word from up above. Do not post any "unauthorized" MGM Mirage offers here. They only want the ones they send out in our (affiliate) monthly emails posted on the board. I'll try to be more diligent about getting them all posted in a timely manner.
Sorry!

What happens if someone books a room with a promo code that was emailed out like GUEST (not real)? If you book the room online for a certain rate, will they honor it, or is it possible they claim you weren't on their Players list or something?

Sonya, correct me if I'm wrong but Joe I think the offers she is referring to are the ones they send out that are "player specific". A lot of people on the board get offers from MGM that are based on their play. When you book them, the first thing they ask you is your players club # to see if you were sent the offer. There's no point in sharing those offers as they can't be used by "a friend" anyway.

I didn't read it that way, Dean, but I'm sure Sonya can clarify. I must admit I don't "get" what MGM Mirage's issue is.

Most of the emails that Sh0ck and Patti used to post on this forum were general discount codes mailed to anyone who signed up for the guestbook emails- NOT specifically linked to player's cards or gaming. These cannot be posted anymore. So, as I wrote above, SIGN UP for the emails yourself. What Sonya will be able to post are the emails that MGM sends out to its affiliates (websites, travel agencies etc) that come out occasionally...

Thanks Hoya....sorry for confusing the issue:thumbsup:

No worries Dino--I think Joedirt's question was actually aimed more at what you answered anyway. So you were being responsive! I'm not sure any of us really understand why MGM is doing this, but since Sonya is an affiliate and (presumably:cheers:) would like to remain one, we must follow their rules! If only they wouldn't keep changing them:wink2:

Sorry for being late to the party, but yeah.. what Hoya said. :) MGM Mirage no longer will let the general mailing list offers be posted here. Only what they send me or post on their affiliate area. I don't completely understand it, but nobody really asked my opinion. :haha:
I still get LOTS of great offers sent to me and I'll be sure to put them up as soon as I get them. I'll try to be better about setting up a regular schedule to manually go over there and make sure there isn't something new so we can get all available offers up on the board. I get a monthly newsletter with links for many of the properties. I think Bellagio is the only one I don't get offers from.
My only other suggestion is to use the links I posted in Post #3 (http://www.vegasmessageboard.com/forums/showpost.php?p=339188&postcount=3). Those pages seem to either list or link to all the current "general" offers for all the MGM Mirage properties.
Sorry about this and I'll continue to see what I can do about the rule, but I can't promise any results. The commissions generated aren't that significant, but they do help me to pay some of the bills to keep the board running. If they want to limit what I can post here, all I can do is keep saying "But... why?" just often enough to not get kicked out. :)
Feel free to email or PM if you have any questions or suggestions.
Thanks for understanding.

So why can other websites post those deals (they shall remain annonymous) and we cant do it here on this forum?

Maybe they aren't affiliates or maybe they don't follow rules and don't mind the risk of getting banned from the program. All I know is what MY rep told me to do. I asked for clarification about whether or not that meant the email offers from the mailing list getting posted by my members and the word from on-high was "no". I'll be sure to let everyone know if the policy changes.

Seems like everyone is being strong-armed by MGM-Mirage. Too bad nobody has the backbone to post good deals and we get stuck with these garbage deals being posted.

Really? Just sign up for their email offers and get them in your inbox.

I use slickdeals.net, smartervegas' mailing list and others. The deals offered are far better than some of the regular mailing list. (Bellagio $90/night, Mandalay Bay $35/night)

Calipso, I'm sorry you feel like I'm being strong-armed and that the deals I post are crappy. I'm posting the best things I can for you guys here. I'm sorry you feel that it's inadequate.
I don't like the policy. I've argued the policy. I've done all I can. Unfortunately, on this one, I don't get to make the rules.

Just to raise a dead horse, many deals offered by various casinos are user specific, and list the name of the player on the offer.
Others are casino rate deals, which can be used by anybody.
I have had some luck using other peoples offers, as long as I specify that the offer came in another player's name. The reservations clerk asked the manager if it would fly and they approved it.
Got the name of the manager, and it worked like a charm. Got a Vista room at the Planet Hollywood for $59 bucks a night.
Don't make it a habit, but as long as you tell them what's up they will sometimes give you the rate, but not the majority of the time. I say a friend of mine received the offer but can't use it.
Sure the promotions manager doesn't like to make it a habit, especially if the rate is a reward for play.
You can also try a casino host, but you better be willing to play at the property you are comped at, or you will be shot by firing squad at dawn.

Sonya, I know I speak for many who frequent this site, when thanking you and appreciating everything you do to help us.
MGM for some reason wants to be difficult. One should consider unfriendly policies like this, when considering who to book, and spend your hard earned dollar with. Considering the condition of the Vegas economy, one would think they'd be trying to open, rather than close doors to potential customers.

It seems such a pity that MGM Mirage are doing this. We try to get to Vegas once a year and all of our accommodation (apart from the first year) has been booked through getting great deals from posts on this website.
Despite signing up for most of the hotels email offers, we very rarely get any email offers sent to us and never any by post. This is probably due to our UK address.
We're currently thinking about arranging another holiday to Vegas in the next couple of months but this depends entirely on getting a good hotel deal as we've become spoilt over the past few years with good deals. We don't gamble much so sadly it may be time to look at going to a different city like New York or San Francisco because shopping and eating out are my two main reasons for visiting the States though my husband would miss the little bit of video poker he plays.
Belated thanks to everyone for the great offers posted in the past - especially Sonya, Shock, Hoyaheel and patti

Just go to othertravelboard, people still post the deals over there, go to the very end of the thread:
I assume the owner of the thread depends on the goodwill of the Casinos somehow because there is no legal action they take against you for deals that are effectively public knowledge....

Hope you forgive the edit. ;)
I know that some other boards are still posting them. I also know sites here in Washington State that advertise online casinos and I'm not doing that either. I'm following the rules set out for me, protesting where I can.
The problem is that this board is partially paid for by commissions generated through bookings made through MGM-Mirage links. If I don't comply with their rules, they can stop paying me. I'd rather keep the hampsters running on their wheels here than break the rules. I keep trying to get them changed when I have the opportunity to speak up about it, but I don't get the make the decisions.
