What is it about saturdays that is so special?!?! If you want a low airfare then you need to include a saturday over night in your plans. If you want an inexpensive hotel they don't stay saturday night. Gee Whiz!!! I am considering flying to Vegas on a Saturday and then just staying up all night (Like that would be hard to do). Then check into my room as early as possible on Sunday and crash. Basically it comes down to this. How do you get the best rate for your hotel and airfare at the same time?

tracy144,
I've found good rates before flying out on Sundays. The best thing is to set up an account with expedia and travelocity and check out their fare calenders. I think those are best when setting up days to fly. Usually when I find a good rate on the day I want to fly with them, then I'll compare it further with Orbitz, atevo, lowestfares, and cheaptickets. You just have to be delignet. Airfares can come and go in a matter of minutes!! Sign up for the flight tracking too. I've found that they don't always notify me when a good fare is out there, but occasionally they do. Just check those fare calenders often, and you should find a good rate. Good luck!!!

By the way, when were you looking to fly out and from where?

Have you tried Southwest Airlines? I'm not sure where you are located, but I find Southwest to be, by far, the best deal out there. When they do systemwide deals, it IS cheaper to fly on days like Wednesday and Saturday.....but I'd just sign up for the click-'n'-save email updates -- you'll get an email every Tuesday showing their bargain fares. But I suggest looking even more often.....I swear the $63 each way I found on Sunday night must have been a mistake.....but sure enough, I booked a direct flights from Albany, NY to Las Vegas leaving on a Thursday afternoon (this coming Thursday, the 24th) and returning on Sunday night for $63 each way (total of $148 with taxes). And as far as the hotel being expensive on Saturday.....it all depends where you stay and how hard you look. I've had similar luck on Expedia.com. This time I had been looking for a solid month....and was getting ready to break down and pay $49 a night for the Imperial Palace. Yeah, I know -- it's not the Mirage. But hey, price is a factor for me. Then one day I spontaneously found that the Sahara room rate had dropped to $25 for Thursday night and $29 each for Friday and Saturday. Granted -- I know the Sahara is not Bellagio and is a bit of a walk up the strip from the main attractions. I'm young. A little walking hasn't killed me yet. I'll gladly sacrifice a bit to save $20-$80 a night and have that to gamble/use to see a show.

BUT -- if you live somewhere so incredibly far from a Southwest airport that it's not an option, or you're hooked on staying at a big name joint, it certainly wouldn't be too tough to stay up all night on Saturday and check in on Sunday -- though check-in times usually aren't until about 3pm. But this is Vegas -- where they pump oxygen into the casinos so you don't get tired. Staying up really isn't a problem. Storing your luggage could be a bit more of a complication. I've never had a hotel give me a problem over leaving my luggage after I check out for a few hours before my flight leaves.....but holding luggage before you check in? That might raise more eyebrows. Especially in an increased security atmosphere. Good luck to you.
