I am taking my mom to Vegas the week of Thanksgiving, we will be arriving the Saturday prior and leaving on Thanksgiving day. She has never been to Las Vegas and I have the first two nights booked at Treasure Island due to the cost on Saturday night. So my dilemma is now, where to stay Mon-Thur.
I got an offer from the Wynn which is currently booked @ $169 per night. I want to stay at one of the nicer hotels however also want to be rated for playing $10-$15 a hand BJ, The MGM properties won't rate you at this level which pisses me off, so I would rather stay somewhere besides the Bellagio.
I ahve never stayed at Caesars, but the rooms look really nice and the price is less than the Wynn and the location is much better. I would really like to stay at Venetian or Palazzo however the price for 2 queens is like $40 more per night.
I need some advice!!!!!!!!

Wanting to be rated at $10-$15 is the kicker here for you - Caesars doesn't even have any $10 BJ - on weekdays they have some $15 tables, most are $25 minimum. Among the Harrahs properties, Paris might be your way to go -- it is connected via walkway to Ballys so you have both casinos. Certainly not as nice as Wynn. The good thing is you can walk over to the Flamingo or Harrahs and play $10 BJ to up your rating.

I don't play for comps, but am reasonably sure that none of the properties you mentioned will rate table play less than $25. For what it's worth I'd stay at Palazzo, not for the comps but b/c I suspect your Mom will love it. Lots of shopping nearby, good restaurants too.

I don't know of any major strip properties that are going to rate your table play at $10-$15/hand, much less an upscale one. Book wherever you feel you have a good deal at and what you think you may like. Personally when I'm staying on the north end of the strip I'm always at Venetian/Palazzo. South end I'm always at Mandalay/THEhotel.

How bout staying downtown. The Golden Nugget is nice and this way your mom gets a taste of the older Vegas to. If that's not in option then I say Bally's or the Paris.

:wave:As other posters have mentioned, your gambling maximum flies under the radar in the high-toned properties on The Strip.
I always thought the atmosphere at the Venetian and now the Palazzo was cold and sterile. The Planet Hollywood, or PH as they like to call themselves these days, attracts a younger crowd and it's possible you won't be comfortable with the demographics. The Paris Las Vegas or Bally's (N tower) maybe options besides Caesars or the Mirage, but your betting limit is the kicker.

I am not neccesarily just looking for comps, I usually will get about $200 or so off of my food bill. I know it is not much and I shouldn't be playing for comps, who knows maybe it is just the principal of it that they won't rate me for $10-$15 a hand...

I'd stay at Venetian/Palazzo if you are dead set against MGM/Mirage properties.
I like the Venezia Tower rooms better than the new Palazzo rooms. The Venezia Tower is part of the Venetian (as is Palazzo) but check-in is separate and on the 10th (or maybe the 12th) floor. They have a separate pool area- and if you can get a room on the main floor-a small outdoor patio.

If you are mostly concerned about your mom liking the place then I guess I would say stay at the nicest place with the location you want in your price range and play what you want. Will she be using your card account? What does she like to play? That might factor in with comps too. Good luck with your wins and have a great time!

At $10-$15 hands off strip is the way to go if you want to be rated. Try the Orleans or Gold Coast or as mentioned how about downtown. Or South Point.
Strip properties(for the most part) will not even rate you at less than $25 a hand.

recently I have been going round and round with MGM to be recognized for the playing we do, which really isn't alot, but, it should still qualify us for a casino rate at Mandalay Bay, but, it don't. Mandalay Bay told me to try Luxor, or Monte Carlo as she would be sure I qualify for casino rate there. So that caused me to think and sure enough we qualify for all types of discounts at Bally's and Paris. I think your mom would be happy in a nice place as long as she was with you. So, going "over'the'top" with rooms at Wynn, Venetian, Palazzo, Bellagio, may seem important to you, but, I think for your play and her comfort, Bally's or Paris may be just the ticket
good luck

Stay at the Wynn and don't chase comps
The Wynn rates all players. Last year when we were there, I asked one of the pit people if they were going to open any $10 tables and he asked me which table I wanted to play at and he made it a $10 table. I was impressed.
Actulay, $10 minimum is more than I like but it worked out OK that day.
