Hi all... off to Vegas in Nov. Got a great deal on the Riviera at $36/night. Read mixed reviews, but the price is right and I am not in need of a 'vacationy' type experience. Just a place to lay my head really.
I am interested in any opinions/experiences there - particularly which tower you stayed in (There are 4 towers) and what the pros and cons were.
What I need in a hotel is 1) Clean 2) Quiet in the AM! (We tend to waken at noon after being out til the wee hours of the morning). I am willing to use the $20 trick if there are 'better' rooms to be had. Anyone have a few thoughts to share?
Appreciate it,
Gina

Hi ,
I ve stayed at the Riv many times. They have just updated many of their rooms. The monaco tower has their signature rooms, but it is a bit of a walk to the casino area and is in the convention area of the hotel. The Mediterranean South tower has been redone and you are only steps from the casino. The Monte Carlo tower imho is the nicest tower. Close to the casino better water pressure, nice views etc. These rooms have not been upgraded as yet. I'm going in Oct and am requesting the Mediterranean south tower. Ive stayed in all of the towers - don't settle for the sam remo tower, this is the low end and by the pool, but in Nov - not an issue. Ive never had to try the 20 dollar trick, the front desk people always seem to try and accommadate your request.
I hope this helped and good luck on your trip.

I've been pleased with the Riv the 3-4 times I've stayed there. Did have to request a move from San Remo Tower once, though. As jpc said, stay away from San Remo.

I was able to use the $20 trick there successfully a couple of years ago. I was not impressed with the room (or my friends' rooms- we went as a group). They were ckean, dated, and boring. I paid 2 star prices and got a 2 star room.
I was not impressed with the gaming. The place was right by slots o' fun and the peppermill.
You are at $36 getting a fair room at a fair price.
