I was curious how MGM properties treat cross-properties comps? I guess a more specific question would be if I am staying at Luxor, but do most of my gaming at Mandalay Bay, would Luxor care at all about my play at Mandalay Bay come check out?

Thanks - Matt

Hi! Great Question I Was Wondering That Myself! I Asked My Hostess That Question And She Looked At Me And Said{we Prefere You Gamble Here}! So That's What I Try To Do.kathy

I seriously doubt it because they are still operating as 2 different hotels and casinos. Both are responsible for filling their respective hotels with gamblers and could care less about what is going on at the other.

I think the only way your comps at one MGM property will be considered at another is when you are booking your next trip. They might see you gambled 4 hours at Mandalay Bay and 22 hours at Luxor and comp you a room based on 26 hours of play rather than only 22 hours of play.

I called the Players Club after a trip two years ago and asked that very question. She said you will get the best deals from the place you gamble most. We stayed at Monte Carlo last time but logged a little more gambling time at NYNY. MC is giving us a pretty good discounted rate, but NYNY offered two free nights.

If it is to your disadvantage they will count the comps. IE.....I stayed at NYNY one trip on a free offer and played slightly less than I usually do at Bellagio---next time I called Bellagio for a room they cited my lower play last time not even differentiating that it was at NYNY. I questioned it and the host said "we are both the same company".

However were I staying at Bellagio and played a ton at NYNY, Bellagio would deny comping me on the basis that I did not do most of my gambling at the hotel I stayed at.

It's a lose-lose proposition. The only way to win is stay at one place and play there. Well you will still lose but at least you won't get screwed AS BAD on the comps......unless of course it is Wynn or Harrah's or a nicer MGM Hotel.

Seriously Harrah's seems to screw you the least. I play 0% at IP, 5% at Harrahs, 3% at CP, 12% at Rio, 15% at Flamingo and about 30/35% at Bally's & Paris. However, my Harrah's comped rooms are available at all the casinos. Offers such as slots tourneys etc are more focused on Paris, Ballys & Rio - never receive any for Harrahs or CP. However, comped rooms are available at all. (CP are free normally only S-Th, however, the rest have them 7 days a week with a few holiday exceptions. Food/Retail comps are calculated by the slot machine, always viewable & redeemable at any HET property nationwide (with the exception of a few odd things like internet where they have to contract it out to another vendor - ran into that in St. Louis).

Some people seem to get great offers from MGM properties - I spent a small fortune at MGM and a slightly less fortune at NYNY. Receive NO offers from MGM at all and only 2 free nites in a Jan/Feb time frame from NYNY. I gave up donating my money to them with the exception of a few hours at Bellagio each trip and a few at NYNY - because I like the atmosphere.

I have only played a little bit at CP so all I know about Harrah's is the poor gaming conditions I have read about. I have rec'd about a dozen offers from NYNY, the best of which are $2,500 and $3,000 promo chip offers with comped nights. Those offers are based on play at Bellagio. MGM-Mirage is "assigning" me to play at NYNY via their offers.

In the past, the majority of my play was at HET properties because I enjoyed the room comps. On my most recent trip, I stayed at Bellagio, and gambled at Bellagio, Mandalay Bay and Mirage. Since that trip, I have received offers from only Mandalay Bay and Mirage (none from Bellagio even though the majority of my play was at that property). Even the lower end of the MGM/Mirage group refused to offer much in the way of reduced room rates if I didn't play there. I am staying at Mandalay Bay in April, and I am axious to see what happens with room comps and subsequent offers. I have always enjoyed the Total Rewards program, and haven't had to pay for a room at a HET property in the past four years. I normally budget about $1,200.00 a day for my play, most of which is spent at craps, BJ and roulette. I have been happy with HET in the past, but I do want to see what MGM/Mirage is willing to do. I have not received any offers from Bellagio following my most recent trip.

At the time of check out Luxor will give full weight and value to any play you have at Mandalay Bay or any other Players Club casino as far as earning comps go.

However, if you do stay at one property and put the majority of your play in another it will affect future offers from the property you are staying at.

As an aside:
If you are thinking of putting in the majority of your play at Mandalay Bay, why not stay there?
Because they are at the end of The Strip they have always seemed to have trouble filling rooms and have been easy on the comps over the years.

MGM properties operate as separate entities, mostly. You will get offers for lower hotel rates for many properties if you frequent the MGM properties but you do need to gamble at one casino to get the best offers and comps from that casino.

Harrah's seems to offer comps based on play through-out the properties they own.
