The Entertainment Book (http://las-vegas.entertainment.com/discount/browse.shtml) isn't going to be beneficial unless you have a car to visit the participating restaurants. Las Vegas Advisor POV (http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/whyjoin-pocketbookofvalueslist2008.cfm) or American Casino Guide (http://bourie.casinocitytimes.com/americancasinoguide/coupons.htm) are somewhat better suited to the strip and/or downtown traveler. You might also consider buying dining certificates on Restaurant.com (http://www.restaurant.com/listings.asp?pgn=gcp)

Speaking of those dining certificates on Restaurant.com, does anyone know if they can typically be used for alcohol only purchases?

Rarely. Many cannot be used for any alcohol even with a food purchase.

You need to read the details of the offer, and read it closely. Some automatically add the gratuity to your bill and often it is more than 15%.

That's pretty lousy. Thanks for the tip! I knew it sounded too good to be true...

Actually I have found the restaurant.com $25 coupons worthwhile. I have used the one for Border Grill at Mandalay and at Quarks at the LV Hilton. Dinner for 2 at either of these places will run you $60with drinks, so subtracting the $25 certificate from the bill and adding the $10 initial cost = dinner for 2 for 45 beans= not bad at all.

Some businesses using restaurant.com do add the 18% gratuity on top of the bill, but in my experience, it's not the majority of restaurants which do so. And you'll be able to read the fine print before purchasing so if this bothers you, you can steer clear of it.

If you are looking for several inexpensive 2-for-1 buffets, the POV will help, although the majority of locations will require you to go off-Strip to take advantage of the deal. Restaurant.com has some very good (and some exceptionally good) restaurants within their program. A handful on the Strip, more located off-Strip. Rosemary's is one of the very best restaurants I've been to, five times so far.

Nick - FYI - certificates for either Border Grill or Quarks rarely, if ever, sell out so in the future purchase them during a 60% or 70% sale. Right now both are available at 60% off ($4) through 2/29 by using code EXTRA.
