I guess most people reading this come to this chatroom because they love Las Vegas. but in the event someone is just searching; I guess this is intended for you.
Everyone associates Las Vegas with gambling and drinking. To no one's surprise there is lots of both there and if you enjoy one or both, this is the place. But I you like one and not the other, or are not into either, Las Vegas has lots to offer still.
First of all, If you want to go to a big city and enjoy the sights and sounds, this is certainly the place! My wife is a people watcher; boy would she love LV (I can't get her on a plane). Here at home, we have "Bingo Ladies"; In Las Vegas they have "Slot Ladies." Be careful to keep your distance, they are territorial! The lights and signs and neon designs are unique to the world. One nice thing is that there are so many flights to LV from so many places that deals abound if you look for them.andf once there, prices are great for whatever level of luxury you want to treat yourself to. Likewise, meals are quite reasonable, or you can splurge and treat yurself here as well. Now that you are there, have a place to stay and are full what does one do without drinking and gambling?
If you like to wander through museums, there is a museum of natural history, museums and collections of memoribilia for famous stars. There are the themed hotels which offer much in which to explore. Always visiting displays, headliners, stars on the rise and big production shows. Like old cars, one of the best collections in America is at little or no cost to you at the Imperial Palace. See the white tigers, go throught he tigers den at MGM, explore the dolphins at the Mirage. see the world's largest gold nugget, play penny slots, ride the monorail, enjoy several roller coasters, or experience virtual reality. Do the Star Trek experience, enjoy a computer generated light show in the dome of 1,000,000 light bulbs! See street jugglers, artists working, live bands at open air concerts, and enjoy every type of entertainment you could want to see.
What does my daughter want to do (age 15)? SHOP!!! OMG,I guess if you like that there is plenty to keep you busy!
For me it is a nice getaway from my 7 day a week business. No phone calls, just solitude, an escape from the cold and snow of New Hampshire, achance to do some walking, experience the craziness of the CAT, see a show, enjoy an occasional drink, take in a show, explore a museum, and try my luck at the slots. Car rentals open even more opportunities to explore the treasures of the desert and the uniqueness of Nevada. There is just so much to see and do, and so much change from year to year, that you could come back many times and never run out of things to do and see.
So Las Vegas has more than gambling and booze. It offers just about everything you would want in a vacation even with kids. Comments and ratings for everything abound on the internet and offer much information but always take them for what they are.....opinions.
