Best ruote to Grand Canyon

Can someone help me out on what is the best route to the Grand Canyon. We would like to make it a day trip from Las Vegas. We are just wanting to spend a couple of hours there. Just enough to see the view. What is the best route and the quickest.

The West Rim is the closest to Vegas, but not the most spectacular. The South Rim is the popular place and the shortest route is still about 5 hours each way.

To get to the South Rim is easy. Take I-15 to 93/95 towards Phoenix. Take it to I-40 and then 64 north into the park.
