Tough to bet on the game since matchups between Division I schools and Division I-AA schools usually don't have lines, at least not here in legal Nevada sportsbooks. Maybe if your bookie works out of a phone booth you might've got a bet in...
So nobody really took it in the shorts, so to speak, except the Wolverines...

All other top 25 teams please take one step forward.
Serves 'em right for scheduling a I-AA team.

I'm sure Michigan was thinking Appalachian State, 2 time National Champ, 15 game win streak; who cares this is the big time and we're going to put an ass whoppin on em" hehehe. Now, you gotta be worried you got Oregon coming in next week; and, even ND has to be thinking we got a chance.

I picture Lloyd Carr ,sitting in an empty stadium, like Roy Munson at the end of Kingpin.

Probably not. Lloyd Carr is the ultimate example of why the Big Ten is a notch below the SEC, and half a notch below the Pac 10. Old boys network. That's the way it was, that's the way it is. Three yards and a cloud of dust. Don't embarrass your opponents. And most important: Play to not lose!
I'm a big Michigan fan from way back (I'm also an Irish fan, which is just weird as 90% of my family are UofM grads.... but I do root for Big Blue when they play each other...) .. this was just crazy..
and one of the best things about college football!
Give little crappy teams like my ole' SJSU team a chance!
So, I'm back to my second fav. team.. GO BEARS!! That cal game was great!! :)

I went to a Big Ten school for the first part of college and graduated from a I-AA. As they say in Champaign-Urbana and the other non-Ann Arbor schools...MuckFichigan.
Most good I-AA programs get one shot at a paycheck visiting a Division I school. Lets see...My alma mater collects next week in Tucson. Big Sky rep NAU battles the Wildcats.
Appy St. has played four play-off games the last two years to win the I-AA championship.
