I love this time of year! It's finally here!! I also love my living room setup! :-)

www.flyingwinnebago.blogspot.com

That's a blog I just created. I'm not active in it yet so far (just messing around with picture posting), but I might get into it a little later. For now, it'll at least let me post pics here that are too big in memory for T2V.

A mini sportsbook. Nice. Keep your eye on the Tribe. Detroit and Minnesota are fading.

Nice job Falcon Rob. I usually have 4 TV's set up in my living room on Sundays, but they're not placed nearly as eloquently as yours - they're more or less just stacked on each other like some old used TV shop window. Still, it gets the job done.

I watch less than 1 college football game per year, and it's usually part of some bowl game.

I'm just sayin'.

As I get older, I find myself watching more college and less NFL. On any given Sunday, there's maybe 2 or 3 NFL games that I really want to watch. However, on Saturdays I can usually give you half a dozen games I'm totally pumped up about.

I have to agree with you on college football. There nothing better than a classic college football matchup , like USC vs. Notre Dame or a Michigan vs. Ohio St (probably not relevant this year).
I have a friend who every goes to a different college game each year. This year he is going to Ole Miss vs LSU, last he went to Vanderbilt vs Florida.
I have a few on my list
Notre Dame Vs USC @ the Coliseum
Texas vs Oklahoma
UCLA vs USC
Texas vs Texas A&M ( go 12th Man!!!)

Huh??? So as soon as Auburn has one loss, the Auburn/Alabama game is irrelevent? Is the Army/Navy game irrelevent every year? Dude, you need to add Ohio St. vs. Michigan to your list, preferably during a year when the championship is not on the line, and tell me afterwards if the game felt irrelevant to you!

Don't sweat it, Rob.

It's just further proof that heathens from the northeast don't know anything about college football.

That's probably an "A1" rivalry there, but IMO every weekend in the Big Ten is a dogfight. Just when you think you're cruising to a bowl game somebody who's cleaning out the lockers on Monday rears up and lays one on you as a last hurrah. I'm sure other conferences do this too (well, maybe not that lame west coast conference). The difference in urgency between college and pros isn't as pronounced as in hoops, though.

Big 10, SEC...

Those are the two conferences that make college football great. Even that 'lame west coast' conference is fun to watch, except for the fact that most of the games don't start until the rest of the country is beyond drunk from all the beer consumed earlier in the day.

Back in the day, spending all of my Saturdays at McDuffy's in Tempe (sadly, now closed) watching college football on about 30 different tv's, and getting in the occasional off-track pony bet, it was tough to spend another four hours or so on the barstool just to catch the Pac-10 home games. But we gave it the ol' college effort, so to speak...

I'm just happy that it's football season again. Life is good.

Jeezum Dude, lighten up a bit, it was a joke! Of course that is a great rivalry I wouldn't have even mentioned it if it wasn't.

but then again I'm a heathen from the Northeast what do I know lol.

Well I do know this, BC has gone to 7 bowls in the last 7 years and came away with 7 victories. I believe that is a record, unless someone knows different. Not bad for the Heathens from the Northeast.

Boston College has the longest "current" streak with 7 consecutive wins.

Florida State won 11 straight Bowl games under Bobby Bowden from 1985-95.

Joe Pa holds the record for most Bowl wins (non-consecutive) with 22. Bowden has 20.

Notre Dame has lost 9 straight Bowl games (and counting). :evillaugh

I figured there was someone else with a longer streak. I cant believe Notre Dame, mama mia, I never would have thought that. Bring back Lou Holtz, one more time.

I'm doing something similar to that...because of scheduling at Texas Tech football...the best game I could make (and afford since I'm going to Vegas after the game) is Boston College @ Georgia Tech. While this won't be on the same level as a game at A&M or LSU...it should still be a good time!

I can agree with LSU as far as caliber of play, they are Certainly in whole another league. I would debate with you about A&M, unless they playing one there big rivals.
BC and Georgia Tech should be a good matchup. Matt Ryan for BC isn't afraid to throw the ball thats for sure.
Who are you going to root for?

You're not counting the Boise Bowl, THe tire bowl and the poulan weed eater bowls as "Bowl Games", are ya?

Unfortunatly, BC doesn't have much control over which bowl they're selected for. We have been given, whether deserved or not, the label that our team doesn't bring a lot of fans to the bowl games. Case in point last year we beat Clemson, yet they were selected for a higher bowl game, because they "travel well". We beat Maryland and had a better record and same thing, higher bowl. The other issue is that the bowls have agreements in place with the ACC and the other conferences to send a team based on the final standings of that conference. Am I disappointed, sure a lil bit, with how BC is sometimes overlooked, but no sense in bitching about it. It is what is. I enjoy those southern teams coming to Boston and spending money and going home with a loss.:poke:
One of the only downsides that I see with joining the ACC is that, unless we qualify for a BCS ranking and or win the ACC Championship I don't see us getting in the higher tier bowls. Its all about the Benjimans for the bowls. They need to sell tickets. Regardless, I don't think that the ACC is disappointed, more money for all the schools.

Well I do know this... Boston College is now 6-0 and Ranked 4th in the country in all 3 polls lol:wave:

I don't know about you but its pretty good to be a sports fan from New England these days. And before anyone gets there undies in a bunch, I have been a life long fan of Boston Sports! Whether it was Carlton Fisks' Game 6 Home run, Bobby Orr and the Big Bad Bruins, freezing my ass off in that concrete bowl in Foxboro watching the Pats lose or the Celtics before Larry and after Larry.

I have to admit that I got hooked on Boston College in the 80's when they went to the Tangerine Bowl, I think it was 82? It was exciting watching Doug Flutie play.
