A friend of mine asked me to place a bet for him on the World Series. I usually only play table games and don't venture to the sports book area. What do I do, just go up to a teller and say $50.00 on the Yankees to win the World Series? Is there a special area for this type of bet? We are staying at Paris but can go to another casino if necessary.
Thanks for your help.
Sorry, I guess this should have been posted in the Sports Book section.

There will be number on the odds board that goes with the Yankees to win the world series. So just look on the board for the odds to win the world series, next to the Yankees there will be a number (most likely a 4 digit #). Then just walk up to the counter and say $50 on 1234.

If you have ANY doubts about the bet you ar placing, just tell the person at the counter what you want to do. They are usually very good about helping out. Double check the ticket before you walk away in case you have any more questions or doubts.

Future bets, like the World Series, often are not posted on the board.

But most casinos will have sheets for futures odds like the World Series and Super Bowl at the side of the Sportsbook.

Besides each team will be a number like dreadfull8 described, the team and then the odds that they will win. Often they will list AFC/NFC Championship odds on one side of the sheet and Super Bowl odds on the other side (or AL/NL and World Series on opposite sides, insert correct league for whatever the sport is you're betting).

If in doubt, follow Blackjack's advice and ask the ticket writer for help. They should be happy to assist you.

Future bets usually have a huge house edge, but they can give you a season's worth of excitement if your pick stays in the hunt all season.

Even before the season starts the Futures lines have changed several times. You don't have too much choice on the Strip, any HET or MGM/Mirage casino will have same odds. Stay away from a Leroys outlet, they traditionally have the worst Futures lines.

Then just walk up to the counter and say $50 on 1234.

And make sure you pronounce the "dollars" after that. The first bet that I placed, I was clueless and just went up and said "5 on bet#1234", the writer responded "large or small?". Not knowing what I know now (that he meant "5 thousand or 5 hundred?"), I was about to say "small" because it sounded safer but thankfully some guy hanging around helped me make the correct bet and saved me $495 in the process.
