Let's get this set up somewhere. What was it last time, yahoo?
Off the subject sort of, but thought this was sooo cool....
In my new job, there is a "wait" to get a team for their FF tournament. When I blurted out in a supervisor/managers meeting, "Why the heck is there a wait for FF" The catch is, its drafted... In Vegas... At Jillians... 15 guys pile in the company van and stay DT and draft.
HOLY SH*T!!!!
I've been doing this all wrong.

OK, I've set up the "T2V Gridiron Club" (swank name, eh?) on Yahoo fantasy sports:
http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/
Go to "Accept invitation" (Join Custom)
league#: 565590 (you'll need this)
password: bigelvis
If you want to join, you're officially invited. It's set up like last year (I think, scoring at least). If you have any comments/suggestions let me know, I can change a bunch of things, including # of teams, currently set to 12.
!IMPORTANT! We need to hash out a draft method. The "live draft" time slots are all gone except 8am-3pm midweek. I don't particularly like the autodraft option, so I selected "offline draft", which means we do it ourselves and then I manually set up the teams. This lets bribery into the equation, which I think is not all bad. ;) But seriously, I thought we could just designate a time and do it over chat, (do we still have a chat feature here??) or on the board.
So - Discuss amongst yourselves -- I'll give you a couple topics -- how to do the draft, and when?

It seems I was looking at LAST YEARS fantasy football league, since I was over seas.
I drunk dialed Al for a reason...and couldn't remember why....Sorry Al....but I wanted to play this year. So count me in. I suck at the game, so I'll be the whipping post.
By the way...since I suck at this FF thing...can we do an automated draft? Just askin'......
doctor_al
08-25-2006, 06:07 AM
In the automated draft, you'd still have to set it up with a ranked list of players, and the order you want to select which position. If you have that, you could work off that live just as well. Automated draft cuts out a prime opportunity for smack. However, continue to discuss, lets see what the consensus is.
BTW, thanks Sh0ck for finding the chat thing. Works better on Internet Exposer than on Firefox in my brief testing...
So far we've got:

The Evildoers are locked and loaded. OK mostly just loaded but hey, it's Friday! I'm ok with an offline draft. That autodraft always seems to screw up my team, like drafting 2 QB's in the first 4 rounds. Let me know what, when and where and I'm all for it. I work for my rich uncle (Sam) so any time is good for me.
blackjack
08-25-2006, 08:43 AM
Autodraft worked well for me last year. Of course I ranked all my picks before hand. It is set up to fill the primary spots first without overloading one position. Like I said, it worked well for me last year. That being said, I'd rather do an online or offline draft. The problem with offline as I see it is there is no auto pick backup so if you can't make the draft time then you're out of luck.
Of course, I could put together a team of non-drafted players and still beat Terry. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v489/ronv/img34.gif

Personally, I thought some of the autopickers got hosed last year, but point taken, we either need a workaround for the over-scheduled (could just send me your autodraft list) -- or we do the autodraft.

Then the Autodraft setups need to be complete by this Sunday night, 10pm. According to Yahoo, results come out "within 72 hrs". Which may/may not leave a whole lot of time (couple days) to set lineups before the Thursday night game next week.

Just posted this to the Yahoo board but I'll post it here too. I know that when you do a live draft, the owners that aren't present have their teams autopicked by Yahoo from their pre-ranked list. So if we set it up as a Live draft then those of us who can make it can pick our teams and those that can't will just have an autodraft.
Would be cool... But anyways, I ranked nothing. I'm leaving my faith with Yahoo...

But ... you have to reserve a time/date for a live draft thru yahoo, and the only times left when I created the league were 8am-3pm M-Fri.
The other options were all-autodraft, or offline (do it yourself, post rosters when you're done), and of those two, it looks like all-autodraft works for the most.

What I was saying is that if you just book one of those times between 8am and 3pm during a weekday then those that can make it to the live draft can select their team and those that can't will just have the autodraft done from their list.
Plus some teams could do both live and autodraft. If the draft was, say, at 11am on a Thursday, I might be able to run home from work and log into Yahoo to make some picks on my lunch break. But I can't access the live draft feature from my work computer (thank God T2V is still ok) so when I'd have to leave, whatever rounds were left would be autodrafted from my Pre-Ranked list.
Just an idea, I'm certainly down with mob rule.

That you guys have the coolest fantasy football league. Nice and mellow...
I joined my brother-in-law's fantasy football league because they needed another player. I already figured my $50 was a donation, and I told them all that I didn't know what I was doing since this year is the first year I've ever played Fantasy Football.
I lost the first week...and got lucky and won last week. Instead of smack talk, it's starting to get personnal. I'm *this* close to telling them all to go F**K off. A little competition is good, but c'mon...lighten up. I feel sorry for these people's kids when they get old enough to play sports.
Anyway, my team is so torn apart because I'm trying to figure out this whole draft/drop/add/waiver/points thing...In fact, I don't think I have a chance in hell of winning another game. But I'm learning..
Anyway...Instead of getting mad, jumping through the internet and ripping out someone's eye-ball and then skull-F******g them, I thought I would come rant here.
Thank you, and I'm sure my winning streak will end this week.

The pass was working early & late. Settling for the field goal before the half when you could've put a fork in them was bad enough, but to stop your final drive at a 40 yard attempt when there was still a minute left was just stupid. Even if Rackers makes it, there was still time for da Bears to move the ball. Funny, Green never mentioned that in his rant. :nono:
doctor_al
10-18-2006, 10:31 AM
Stupid to settle on the long FG, absolutely. That one isn't on Rackers, IMO. Yeah, he should be able to make that, but it's not high percentage and they didn't really try for the first and a better shot at the FG.
But a minute being enough time for the Bears offense to go the length of the field?? Not Rex, not that day. They'd have a better chance intentionally throwing a long pick and seeing if the D had another TD in them.

LOL - The D would have a better chance, but Rex would not have to go the length. Get a decent return and they would only need 30-35 yards to get in Gould's range. Who knows, get a real good return and Gould might be kicking an extra point again.
