The Phoenix NBC affiliate did a half hour show on it last night. I forgot just how much politics went into it. The governor created a sports authority in 2000. The voters of AZ had to pass a proposition. Certain premilinary sites were selected. They picked one in Tempe. The FAA got involved saying it was going to be a hazard for planes. Back to square one. Another site picked. Housing developer sues. New site selected in Glendale, way out in the cotton fields. Finally construction.

This place looks cool. They roll in the whole field which sits outside in the sunshine. Debuts tomorrow with the Steelers in town. Teflon roof that can be opened. Seats 63,000. Can add 10,000 seats for special events like the Fiesta Bowl, BCS Championship game and a Super Bowl. Rolling Stones on November 8th.

Parking lot opens 4 hours before games time. No charcoal, just propane. No bottles just cans. Twenty acres of grass to party on.

So they are going to make me watch all sixteen games this year, a first. They would only sell out for the Cowboys or the Bears at Sun Devil stadium.

They are not in my market and I never see their games broadcast. Seriously, I don't even remember the last Cardinals game they showed in Nashville. I hope the sudden TV exposure doesn't go to their heads and make them play 4-12 ball this year.:poke:

I've driven by it a few times. It looks very cool. Now they can start playing like a pro team.I hope.

Unfortunately, as a native of St. Louis, I can almost guarantee that as long as the owner's name is Bidwell the team will still be the same old Cardinals.

I know that to well.I lived in Florida when the Buccaneers came into the league and Culverhouse was the same as Bidwell as far as being cheap bastards.

Yep...

Lived in both St. Louis and Phoenix for several years, and have had my fill of Bidwill and his inept minor-league franchise.

The problem with Bill Bidwill is that the team is his livelihood. Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder, Arthur Blank, etc, are guys who made their fortunes outside of football, then bought teams. If the league folded up or took a huge financial hit, no problem for those guys...they'll be just fine. Not the likes of Bidwill.

He hesitates to pay big contracts because that's just more groceries off of his table.

I'd like to see them do well, eventually. But Leinert is acting like a diva. Somebody needs to remind him that he was the TENTH pick in the draft. Not top-3 like he'd been expecting for the past 18 months or so... Of course given the Cardinals history, I'd be hesitant to sign a contract with them, too.
