Ballys, Monte Carlo or Mirage

Hello Everybody,

Can anyone help please?

We are travelling late June from Scotland, we like spending most of the day by the pool, like a nice room and have a wee gamble, so these are major factors,
We know Mirage has the best pool but Ballys has the best price.
1.Do you have to queue to get into the Mirage pool?
2. What is the better hotel between MC & Ballys?

And an overall opinion on the 3 hotels in general and does the $20 trick work at these hotels?

We've never stayed at Bally's, so I can't help you out there. But if it's your first trip to Vegas I would say stay at the Mirage. They have a great pool, I don't recall long lines to get in the last time we went, excellent location and many good places to eat.

I love the Monte Carlo (preferably the Montico suite) their pool is also awesome but the location is a bit south. If your choosing between Monte Carlo & Ballys, I would choose MC just because it seems so much more "classy" than Ballys. Plus Ballys has a forever walk to get from the casino to the strip.

Hi.....We've stayed at " Bally's" twice now and Never a complaint.. We take the "North" Tower as its closest to the Pool area. Also nice is "Paris" as its connected right next door.. To me...the walk from the Casino area to the "Strip" is not that far of a walk at all...When you think of all the walking we all do in Vegas...That little hike is Nothing...Enjoy your stay...

I have never stayed at Bally's but that's one of my top choices next time I go to Vegas. I think that Bally's has more of that "classic" vegas feel to it.

I enjoy Monte Carlo and the Mirage for their pool area, but I think that Bally's pool is probably just fine for the amount of swimming we do.

I am drawn to the Mirage for the pool and quality of hotel & Monte Carlo for the pool but hear reports regarding their rooms having thin walls, never the less I shall keep you informed of my decisions.

I stayed at Monte Carlo and had no problem with thin walls. In further conversations with others who've stayed there, we think it may have something to do with the number of mudslides I consume in Vegas--normally I'm a very light sleeper but I had no problem sleeping through the night in our Monte Carlo room. Further--our friends were in the room next door to us and stayed out late clubbing--we never heard them getting in late at night, and they didn't hear us leaving for breakfast early in the morning :D The plumbing IS loud, but I only heard our plumbing, not the neighbor's. I had a LOVELY time at Monte Carlo. Alas, I cannot compare to your other choices since I haven't stayed at Mirage or Ballys. If the choice were mine, it would come down to the price available during my stay--if Mirage were the same price as the other two, I would choose it. Between Monte Carlo and Ballys at the same price, I would choose MC because I have a better vibe in the casino there, but "vibe" is one of those indefinable things and completely personal. Ballys does have a good location, but I don't think that the Mirage or Monte Carlo have a BAD location. Good luck with that choice!!

PS for Monte Carlo: you can request a refrigerator from housekeeping when you arrive. If one is available, they'll bring it to your room--they're free, but first-come, first served. Monte Carlo is next door to a new CVS drug store (gee, I guess it's a couple years old by now :rolleyes: ) and it's a great place to stock up on water & soft drinks to keep in your fridge, sunscreen if you forget it, and even decent priced post cards and other Vegas souvenirs (in our house, we call them "trinkets & beads" no matter what we're buying ;) )

I have stayed at Bally's and their pool is nothing special. We stayed at the Mirage last Oct. and their pool is out of this world. Fantastic. Hot tubs in little sheltered coves. Lots of beautiful landscaping, very lush. They have good drink service. You really feel like you are on a tropical vacation. We love the Mirage pool. It also has seperate little areas so you don't feel like it is so crowded.

Like Hoya said, it would depend on the price. If Mirage is the same or a little more than MC or Bally's, then I would take that without hesitation. My 2nd choice would be MC, however, this is a biased opinion. I've stayed at MC 4 times & never at Bally's. Also, I have never had any problem with MC "thin walls".

Thanks for the information.
Whilst watching the hotels prices, I received an Email from Mirage, for $89 per night , thought It was reasonable enough and booked it.
I will have a look at Monte Carlo pool during my stay and maybe try it on my next trip to Vegas.
