Just curious if anyone knows if there is a way to sneak in or get some kind of pass to check out other hotel pools?

Some places, like Mandalay Bay, are gated off, although you can usually get a view from somewhere. Again in the case of Mandalay, I'm told you can get a good view of the pool from Border Grill, way 'round back.

Other places it's easier. Flamingo, we just started walking through the "wildlife habitat" and kept going until someone stopped us - which never happened.

There are some huge floor to ceiling windows that face the Mandalay Bay pool. Just follow the sign towards the Shark Reef and you'll pass them on the way to Shark Reef.

I know you can't go in the Mirage's pool unless you are a guest.

But we've been to the Luxor many many times while sleeping at the cheap Sahara. There's a sign that says "guest only" but nobody cares it seems.

I know at the Bellagio and MGM they check for hotel keys to be admitted to pool area. However, both have small patio areas where non-guests can just look out onto the pool grounds...I would think most "higher-end" hotels are like this.

I stayed at The Venetian last week and no one checked my hotel key when entering the pool. It looked like there was someone supossed to be checking but no one ever asked. Maybe you could try sneeking past the workers and they might not notice. However, at Monte Carlo, they not only asked to see your key, they actually swiped it. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Maybe cause Venetian has just one big ol' lame pool, they think no one would bother to try to get in

Actually it is because Venetian pool is on the 4th floor so you would have to go by elevator security at the casino level to get to it and they do check keys. Perhaps the pool workers should still check also but they never checked me. One way around elevator security would be to enter the elevators from the 2nd level in the Canal of Shops. Here you have to swipe your key, but there were so many people coming in & out during the day that someone could easily tailgate their way in. The pool is not lame if you're looking for some sun, & a place to stretch out without bumping elbows. The waitresses were quick & the food at the cafe was good. However, if you want lazy rivers & water falls then V pool is not for you.

I was able to get into look at a lot of pool areas with my camera and explaining I wanted to see the pool and take a couple of pictures.
Your right about Mandalay Bay that its gated but you can get into the adjacent lobby one floor above pool level and at least size up the pools.

I was shocked at how small the (closed at the time) wave pool was. I envisioned this huge monstrous pool as it appeared on TV and its anything but that.

I did notice about 400 lounge chairs in front of it and determined it to be a prime location for familys to let there kids run loose.

If your looking for a great pool/s for kids this is the place.

I thought the Venetian pool was lame and spartan-I expected MUCH better. It's no better than IP. Just one big pool and a sea of plain concrete. Venetian is a great place to walk thru, not as great to stay. That pool reeks of cheapness, and as much as they charge for rooms their pool should rival Bellagio and Caesars.
