San Remo is behind the Tropicana and MGM on Tropicana. It's really close to the strip so walking to the corner isn't a problem. From there you can take the MGM monorail to Bally's or the other monorail to Luxor and Mandalay Bay.

The rooms at San Remo are clean and comfortable and it sounds like you got a decent price for a weekend. It's not 5-star accomodations, but it's comfortable there. You shouldn't be disappointed if you expect a modest room. You can see a photo of the room here - http://www.180096hotel.com/hotels/LAS_SANR-rooms-2.jpg

I stayed at the San Remo and was not disappointed. I would stay there again in a minute! The location is very convient. If you want to take the monorail at MGM be sure to walk across the street at the light instead of going all the way to the big entrace with the lion. It will get you there much faster. I agree with Sonya's post that the rooms are clean and comfortable. The room we stayed in was a king with a large couch & coffee table as well as a table and 2 chairs. I though it was large by hotel room standards. It is not luxurious by any means, but it is a good value for your money. :D

My memory of the San Remo was stumbling out of the MGM (on the side facing the San Remo, where the taxi stand is...I think it's also the registration entrance) at about 2:30am in an "altered state", and seeing the hour and a half long taxi line... my buddies and I immediately spotted the San Remo across the street, with a Five minute taxi line, and high-tailed it! :D I vaguely recall going inside to use the restroom prior to getting in the taxi, but honestly can't remember what it looked like... hahahahaha

In our experience, the San Remo is clean, large rooms, and if your idea of sleeping on a piece of the rock is comfort, then you'll be happy..*G* The staff was good, but gawd, that was the HARDEST bed we've ever slept on! The location is okay though...but I wouldn't ever set foot in the restaurant again...worst food ever (even worse than the Circus buffet we had many moons ago..*G*)
