This thing is a joke. First, the US team might get eliminated for giving up too many runs in the first round. OK, they didn't. Advance.
Then they were supposed to play in California on Sunday, against Japan. OK, this must be like Sunday Night Baseball right? Since there is so much other sports going on they would have the whole sports viewing public. Nope. I just saw the last three pitches.
USA wins? Where is that hurling competition?
I watched the whole game... They got away with this one though. That guy at third did NOT leave early. Bucko knew what he was doing and completed it to perfection.

I was at the game yesterday. The crowd was pretty into it, especially when they tied it up at 3 runs each. After that there were several bad calls. None of them were replayed on the jumbotron nor were any of them explained by the announcer. Those of us in the stands had no idea what happened in the 8th inning and everyone we talked to thought that perhaps the runner had gone off the baseline (we were sitting behind first base and it did not look like the guy did left early, so we assumed it was something else). The Japanese team got a pretty large ovation from the crowd at the top of the 9th. The reaction to the victory was pretty subdued after the game. The general reaction was that we got lucky.
I'm a huge baseball fan and was very skeptical of the WBC. I thought it was just a joke, no one really playing, but after watching lots of baseball this weekend, I totally changed my mind. The game between the DR and PR, while a lopsided win, was fun to watch. The guys actually seem really into the games. I was very suprised. I thought they'd treat this thing like Spring Training, but it appears they are actually playing for something! Nice to see!
