We are heading to vegas in Nov, and are wondering which sports books are the best. We plan on betting and watching pro/college football. Are there a few places that stand out from the rest?

Stardust, Hilton, Ceasars, Mandalay Bay, Ballys are all good picks.

I agree with Vegas Gang. Those are very good choices.

I actually like the Mirage and Treasure Island books. TI has these black leather seats that are very comfortable and they have 6 very big screens for games along with 5 small ones along the betting counter.

Mirage has upgraded their seating from uncomfortable bamboo chairs to ones similar to TI. The set up is almost identical to TI.

Others that are very good for viewing are Mandalay Bay & Caesars.

If you are a race bettor I like the IP which has stadium seating for racing, Paris which has a bar right behind it.

To me NYNY has the worst book on the strip. Unless your in ESPNZONE it will be the worst experience ever. Not only is it tiny but it looks like it was thrown together with no thought. There is plenty of people traffic behind you and it is very hard to concentrate with all the noise of the people, games, races, slots etc etc going on at once.

Good luck on your trip

I agree with this, it's like a sports 'area'.

Bellagio has one of my favorite sportsbooks--very comfortable leather chairs and good drink service.

You don't get free drinks when sitting/gambling in the sportsbook do you?

Which of the best do you think has the best ventilation to take care of cigarette smoke?

Policies differ from book to book. Some will give you free drinks without showing proof (a bet ticket) that you are gambling, but these are becoming rare (a tip in hand when ordering might make the waitress forget to ask to see your bet slip). Most want to see a bet ticket, others (especially during big events like March Madness) hand out drink tickets when you place a bet (some Books are more generous than others with the drink tix).

Mandalay Bay has a great sports book. The sports book at the Excalibur is good also, it is just a bit run down! Hope this helps.

If you're worried about smoke inhalation, the sportsbook is not where you want to be, generally speaking. Sports betters don't have to use their hands for anything so what do you think they do - drink in one hand, cigarette in other. Stardust is one of the worst for cigarette smoke.

I recall the Hilton and Venetian being better for clean air but they were fairly empty at the time.

So which ones have good cocktail service? I plan on betting the whole time I'm in there, and I hate poor service. Where do the drinks flow?

The Venetian. They have a nice wardrobe as well.

Check out cheapovegas.com for information on other books, too.

Mandalay has decent service; the cocktail waitresses are usually within earshot, and they tend to throw drink coupons at you after you place your bets.
