Today is my 9 year anniversary and both Frank and I forgot...it just goes to show you what once was so important really isn't anymore. Don't get me wrong I love my husband and love being married but the celebrations are not that important anymore...besides we are going to be in Las Vegas in 5 days! Whohoo we can celebrate there.

Congrats Sammi. My nine year was in August. We went out to dinner I think - no big deal here either. I figure next year we'll look at a weekend away or maybe a 4 night cruise.

Congratulations!

My ninth was in September. What did we do? Got to a casino!! (too bad it was only Foxwoods, and not Vegas)

9 years...wow! Congratulations! By our ninth year we were down to having hallway sex - whenever we passed each other in the hallway we'd say F you to each other and then I'd go have a cigarette....... :haha:

Hallway sex huh... I guess I'm getting it more than I thought :evillaugh . Whatever happened to makeup sex? Now I apologize, she accepts or rejects it, and we fall asleep on the couch. I'm missing out on the makeup sex...

Congrats! Hubby and I celebrated #15 last month. We went out to dinner which is something we hadn't done for our anniversay since the second one! I figure as long as you get near the actual date, life is good!

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes. There are a lot of 9 year anniversaries here. I guess great minds think alike. What was everyone's wedding song? Mine was Joshua Kadison's "Beautiful in my eyes". Seems like a long time ago now. I was young blond and in love now I am older, brunette and hopefully wiser but still in love.

We just had our 5th anniversary two weeks ago--and we actually went out for dinner, highly unusual for us--living in the boonies, we don't have a lot of options, we have to drive out of town. So usually we just save it for Vegas....

For wedding songs--hubby and I walked down the aisle to the theme from This Old House (actually a Fats Domino song) and our first dance was Feels Like Home (Bonnie Raitt version).

Sammi--I know you & Frank will live it up in Vegas so no worries about forgetting the anniversary.....But you might wanna see about having the date engraved in your rings, just in case;)

Wow Sammi. I bet most here don't know who Jashua Kadison is. Good choice on the tune.

Hoya I don't think the dates in the ring would help Frank...he hates jewelry in any shape or form. Never wears it and there is nothing I can do about it. All that beautiful jewelry that he has over the years and I can never get him to even look at it.

Thanks Dougie the words to that song really hit home for us. It was the perfect song and still is. I still love it. I don't know if Frank remembers what we danced too but to me it is one of the best memories I have of our reception.

I will ask him again when we get to Vegas but I don't think that would fly...Maybe after a big win at the craps table?

This is how I see it--if it were really important that he and/or both of you remember the actual day you were married, one of you would have made comments ahead of time. I figured that out (even though hubby & I both have our wedding dates in our rings, sometimes it slips our minds) But if I expect anything, I have to give reminder "hints". This year, our fifth, the traditional gift is "wood". So I took a bunch of old casino players cards and made hubby a shadow box with them hanging in it he can put in our Vegas-themed game room. I also made dinner reservations and told him he could take me out as his gift:wink2: Everyone was happy....

Personally, I'd rather take winnings from a great night at the craps table and spend them in a spa or a nice restaurant, but then, I'm a pansy about pain and can't stand needles....Go figure, tatoos have never appealed to me:wiggle:

Wow, many of you haven't reached the 10 year mark yet. Hubby and I celebrated our 13th in September (15 years together). We went to dinner and gambled a bit. The way to have a happy marriage in my book is seperate vacations at least once a year. ;)

Congrats to everyone that is celebrating!

Wow, many of you haven't reached the 10 year mark yet. Yep, we're babies;) Hubby and I were talking about our parents' anniversaries (I have several sets of parents--him, fortunately only one) We've got his parents at ~39-40 years (so we have a decade to save up for a really nice 50th present:wiggle: ) my father at 25 next year, then another dad at 13 this year (yippee--his longest marriage) then my mom will be at 5 in March--she got married right after I did.....I told my hubby before we got married that one of my goals was to reach a 50th anniversary, so he better take care of himself and live that long!!!

Sorry Hoya, but this sounds like a Jerry Springer show qoute.:D

BTW we are working on our 25th year of Bliss. I got lucky when I picked my mate.

Bobby--would it help if I said it was her 3rd marriage and she was 49 at the time?? She did get married in Vegas, gotta give her that!!!!

No, no. No offense. It just sounded funny when I read it.;)

Nah, I wasn't offended. My family "tree" still confounds my mother-in-law and I've been explaining it to her for 8 years now. Before our rehearsal dinner, she wanted a list of my family that were coming (we did a pig pickin'--what fun!!) and their relationship to me. So I gave her one--somewhat tongue in cheek for some of the relationships--and she actually used MY descriptions on people's name tags. I was somewhat mortified until I had a few drinks!!! Thank goodness everyone in my family has a good sense of humor and most people get along, despite multiple divorces & remarriages....

NOW that's sounds like it was a good wedding reception. I like people who can take a good ribbing.

30 for me next Valentine's Day. We are gonna do it right. 5 nights in the Bellagio with a lakeview room (we couldn't afford a honeymoon and I had just gotten my job here). And I'll bet we all think that WE have the best mate!! And that's just the way it should be. Congrats to all.
