Wife and I are going to Vegas March 24-28. Originally, we were going to stay at the 4 Queens, but was talked out of it by friends who have had past experiences there. Anyway, my wife is a huge(can not stress how huge) Chicago fanatic. Chicago will be at the Stardust our first night so we are considering making that our first choice of hotels to stay at. I have already checked on a package deal and it is definitely within our price range. We would appreciate any info from those who have stayed there such as room size and service. Most importantly, how did the staff treat you? Any info would be appreciated.

Stardust isn't one of my favorite casinos. The ceilings are a little low for my tastes and results in a more smoky environment.
The motel style rooms in the back aren't great, but I believe all of those have been torn down by now. The bigger tower (West Tower?) is newer and the rooms are comfortable.
You didn't say how old you were, but the clientel seems to run a bit older there. I haven't spent much time there so I can't really comment on service. It seemed average in the brief time I was there.
What's your budget. Maybe you can find a deal on a better hotel in a more central location. Stardust is pretty far north. You might be interested in something more center strip.
You can see a picture of the West Tower rooms here - http://www.stardustlv.com/rooms_info.westtower.cfm

When we went to Stardust on family vacations (i was under 21) we almost always stayed at the Stardust. The rooms are not bad, but dont expect service. If you are traveling with anyone under 21, its not the place to stay. They have a rule that NOBODY under 21 can even be in the room unless with an adult (was told that as my wife and I were going to stay and she is not 21). The price is not bad, but for a few bucks more, you can move to a better area. The reservation people I spoke with were rude and did not want to answer my questions. My dad just came back from a trip in November and said he would never go back there again. He said they were just down right rude.
My wife and I stayed there in March of 2001 and had a great time. I have to agree with Sonya's take on the casino. That dark atmosphere does not help me stay up late (I'm on east coast time) and there always seems to be chain smoker sitting next to me, but we had a good time there. We were in the new tower facing the strip and the view was good. The room was clean and quite adequate but don't compare it to Venetian or a Bellagio suite. We liked the simple casino/hotel layout, it was easy to pop up to the room and you did not need to walk 1/4 mile to get there.
Beware of the main restaurant. We consistantly had long waits to get in and the service s$%ked. The big exception is Sushi King. We have eaten there 3 or 4 times and it has been consistantly excellent (if you like Sushi).
Get out a strip map and look at Stardust's location. You are close to Riviera, Circus Circus, Westward Ho and Slots-A-Fun. This is the lower rent section of the strip, so if you want to easily find low limit table games this is the place. Keep $2 in you pocket for bus fare because it's a 15 minute fast walk to Treasure Island (the closest mega hotel) and almost 2 hours down to Luxor. ;)

Thanks all, I think we will look somewhere else. By the way Sonya, my wife and I are both in our mid to late 20s. Thanks for the replies.
