Let the speculation begin. Where do you think old Carl will look at downtown?

Nevada gaming regulators Thursday approved a holding company to manage the Stratosphere and two Arizona Charlie's casinos, but a spokesman for the company said plans for downtown property are still in the preliminary stages.

There's a parcel of land across the street (north) that the Strat acquired via eminent domain - except for one small business owner who has fought bitterly. If you go up LV Blvd to downtown you see the signs. I think he finally is winding down the fight, but is also bitter that in the ten years or so he's been fighting it, the Strat hasn't had any plans to do anything there anyway. Anyway, sounds like they're probably ready.

Personally, I'd like to see a space-themed casino up there... :haha:

And downtown? Interesting... IMO, most likely is either the often-tossed-around Lady Luck, or one or more of the ex-Barrick properties, as I don't think Tavares group sounds all that committed to operating hotel/casinos.

If King Carl works the same magic at the Strat and AZ Charlie's that he did with TWA, then beware. That said, the guys got some the cash and the credit to make some serious noise in Vegas if he chooses to do so.

Anybody that ain't Harrahs is starting to look good to me...
