Early July Meet

I'm in Vegas July 1 through July 7. Who else is around? I'm meeting 3 guys on the 4th, but would love to get a meet together anytime in that period. The guys I'm meeting think I know everything about Vegas, so I'll need significant help.

I'll be staying at the Flaming-O...maybe 2 nights at Casino Royale. If you don't want to venture up the strip, I'll meet you downtown. I always go downtown at least once for my ride on the grain train.

I'm good either way. My current plan is to hit the seafood buffet at the Fremont Friday evening, then do whatever. The only two bars that I could POSITIVELY find my way to is the bar at Mermaids, and the bar in the sportsbook at the Golden Nugget...oh, and the Horseshoe. I don't think I've stepped into any of the other downtown casinos sober enough to remember where I was.

I suppose there's got to be a bar by the buffett at the Fremont though?

I suppose since you're going to Oregon, you won't be driving into CA on I-15...so meeting on the Nevada border for a drink is out of the question.

4 is good. My plane is scheduled in at 10:23 am, so I should be good to go. I don't know where anything is Downtown, so all the places are the same to me. We can figure that out later. You never know, the meet could grow as the date gets closer.

I guess we found out where our dice game that night will be.

Nice picture, but I seem to recall the train jumping the tracks further down by Fitzgeralds. This is right out front of the Gate, where my car unhitched and the rest of the train kept going down the strip, like the plane in Con Air.

I'm going to THEhotel with a big group and it's becoming a logistical nightmare. Everyone wants to visit as many nightclubs and a ton of sushi as well as hitting the pool at Mandalay Bay, as physically possible. I, along with a few others, also want to put in some serious time in the Salon-upper limit room at Mandalay Bay.....and I can't see when we'll have time to load up on margaritas. I'm getting the impression that I'm not going to be able to get away for much me-time on this trip. Then there's a sub-group that are heading to Bandon Dunes for our golf trip. I really need a personal assistant...getting all stressed out. :(

Ross, it will rain in Vegas. I figured out the way to end this whole drought-thing they've been talking about. All I have to do is wash my car. It is guaranteed to rain within 48 hours of doing so. I've washed it three times since I've been here, and now it's rained three times also...

Good luck with the golf. I'm spending my weekend running errands and such, maybe watch a little bit of the Masters.

Well, I'm definitely out.....my late June trip is turning into a mid-June trip. My airfare just shot up about $100. Damn Southwest, why is it that you need to secure your travel plans 4 months in advance to get a cheap flight. Don't they know this is Vegas? Don't they understand that I go there about 6 or more times a year? My free room offers at the Mandalay Bay only give me about 30 days of lead time.

My 24 yr old daughter (single) and her daughter will be in town visiting me and I will be spending 2 nights of their visit at NYNY, ie. 4/3 and 4/4 and she flys out on the 5th. So I return to work on the 5th as well. So.... Be on the look out at NYNY for me, and my georgeous daughter, and my way to cute small and meek 4yr old granddaughter.

I don't want to sound like a controlling prick, but I go back out to sea for 12 days next Thursday, and I'd like to set this up by then.

I think we are all pretty much split between downtown and the Strip. Right now, I'd like to aim for meeting at Barbary Coast around 7 or 8 on Saturday night...only because I don't know of any bar locations downtown.
That way, people can still spend the daytime with their families, but their night activities are still open.

Of course, we need to ask Mikey if he's free on Saturday night, too.

Give me your input, and hopefully we can make this come together.
