View Full Version : March Madness - who & when

Despite two threads each several pages long (and a threadjacking of another threatening to do the same) we do not have a general consensus of who is coming to the T2V March Madness II celebration when. I think some of us can plan around when the majority will be there, so here's this poll... please post your dates. Maybe this will help someone (ok... me) in planning.

Forgot to have an option of "just pick a d*mn date and I'll be there!"

You're the first to act Al - YOU pick the date!

Ok, so I'll vote first. Despite it messing up my payroll schedule *and* being more expensive, I have come to like the idea of having my birthday there.
Now, let's hear from the rest of you!

As I have told others, we are having a reunion of sorts from 3/23 to 3/29. I will make any reasonable dates in that area. My family really doesn't need to see the Patron in action...

OK I voted for the 16th - 20th(ish) timeframe because ST. Paddy's day in Vegas should be known as "It's Cinco De Mayo in here" day and we need to help Kikky celebrate her birthday!!

My birthday (Big Four Ow) is the 20th, and I've gone to Vegas on my B-day the last four years, so I may be there. 16th-20th is good, but I'll actually probably leave the 19th and not pay the huge Sat. rates.

I'm in 16-20. Hubby won't go, so I'll be "single" for the trip and ready to PARTY!

Brandy and I were thinking the 17th-20th thats the Thursday through Sunday. From the vote looks like most are choosing that week as well. Looking forward to meeting alot of the gang.
Does anyone have a clue as to where they are staying yet. I stayed downtown for the first time last trip and liked it down there. Thinking maybe the Nugget again.

Talk about a landslide!
The Tribe has spoken... Sorry Dougie! We'll make plans for St. Patty's Day, etc...
Will the town still be standing after this gathering?

WooHoo! I can hardly wait! Are we all going to try and stay in the same area? I'm new to this so I'm clueless. Okay now that we have a date, who is going for sure? Me, Kikky, the good Dr., bazooch, Billy & Brandy, Bill...dkbk r u gonna show up? Farking better come too! Mikey-you know you're coming so stop being coy. I'm exploding I'm so excited!!!! The worst part of this is that my posts are thread killers! The chances of anyone else responding to this are very slim right now. Very slim indeed!

Let's see if we can keep this going... I've looked at rates for those dates, and downtown doesn't look bad. Golden Nugget is a possibility. MSS is a possibility, but they don't have their March rates out yet. But they are a Boyd property, and I play enough at Borgata in AC, which also belongs to Boyd, that I might qualify for some either freebies or cheapies.
My birthday, then St. Patty's Day, with this group. The town might survive, but I'm not sure I will! tongue.gif

Checking on prices this morning for 17-20. I thought they were real high, but I realized that I am used to going during the week. (sun-thurs) If anyone runs across any good deals for that weekend dt let me know.
Thanks!

El Cortez hotel site: 35/35/79/79 for 16th-20th.
El Cortez on Travelaxe(=T): Nothing??
Gate (T): 36/36/55/55. hmmm...
Gate (hotel site): 39/39/65/65
Lady Luck (T): 36/36/58/58
4Queens (T): 66/66/66/66
LVC(T): 46/46/65/65
Plaza (T): 55/55/78/78
for comparison:
Gold Coast(T) 57/57/57/57 hmmm...
Sahara (T) 66/66/99/99
Orleans (T) 107/107/107/107
So I take it we're staying downtown then? What's the appropriate thing to do here? Try to get us all in one area? One hotel? Does it matter? If we all do one hotel, perhaps we can get a group rate? So many questions, so much excitement, I don't know if I can make it until March! Oh wait, I'm going for New Years-I don't have to wait until March. I'm still so excited I'm about to burst. I can't wait to tear up the town with everyone!

Sin I feel the same way! And thankfully I'm going just prior to Christmas so don't have to wait until March.
I have a feeling enough people will have places they want to stay based on previous experience that getting a group discount might be frustrating. On the other hand, it wouldn't hurt to ask would it?
I did a search late last week and got the following prices:
Orleans: $432.00 for 3/16-20 through Travelworm and Hoteldiscounts.com
Golden Nugget $537.50 from Travelocity
For some reason, I've never been able to get Travelaxe to work on this computer :(
kikky, it never hurts to ask right? I think that if it is possible when it's time to make reservations we need to use the link here. It seems that the rates I get here are usually similar to those I find on Travelaxe and it supports this board. Actually, I wouldn't mind paying a few extra $ by booking this way because it supports this board, without which there would be no MM get-together! Just a thought.

Oh I'm coming Sin!! I might do Orleans, downtown or Rio. I'm waiting to see if I can snag any casino rates before booking I'm planning on the 16th thru the 20th.

Once there, everyone will be issued wristwatch communicators, that will also have VP paytables.
[ September 13, 2004, 09:17 AM: Message edited by: doctor_al ]
Al that will work! I think I'll drive in, that way I will have a vehicle available to me and it's oh so much cheaper than flying & renting. That means I can pretty much stay wherever...I think I'll just go for the cheapest rate. My friend moved out there a couple of weeks ago, so I could stay with her for free, but then there's that problem of drunk driving and I like to avoid that whenever possible. Damn, can you tell I'm bursting at the seams?
Shutting up now.

How about it guys?? Anyone else? I want to have a PARTY on my birthday!

I'll see if I can get a few mates to come back over in March. Bit far to come, from England, seeing as I've only just got back, but seeing as I'm going to make a trip to Vegas every year may as well try to make it coincide with an organised few days of debauchery and fun...

Shock,
It really is a nice little perk. I probably could have taken all my required sessions in about three years if I went to the maximum number of sessions per day and went every day but I find myself dragging it out a bit to squeeze in one or two extra Vegas trips.

I will look into rooms tonight on the work computer, its much faster than this one, if i find a good price, im bookin, BUT I wont have a car. I guess there are plenty of taxi's, LOL

Ok, here it is, now im graemlins/biggthumpup.gif graemlins/laughing.gif
Booked my FIRST downtown stay, staying at Binons, March 17-20, 49/59/69 a night.
I could not find many other cheaper rooms due to the fact of MM and the lady at Circus Circus said its also a race weekend. Best part is, they dont precharge your credit card for reservations.
Steve
Now, where do I get the T-minus thing at?
I'm booked at the Plaza for three nights (Thu-Sat). If I can get outta working the Wednesday night, i'll be there even sooner...

Ok, Downtown seesm affrdable but iv never stayed there before, airfare is sorta up in price as of now, not sure if it will come down or not. The strip is out all together with the prices there. I guess the weekend is Nascar weekend plus with St. Patricks day, its just going to be a crazy weekend. Im booked at Binions, but reading in the Downtown section I seen the comment the rooms are not great. I called the Plaza and they are MUCH cheaper, BUT id rather not pay for my room in advance (Binions is about the only one that seems NOT to charge your first night stay). This makes things so hard, LOL.

The race is on 3/13 next year, so MM2 is after the race crowd leaves. It's probably that Conexpo convention that's driving up rates.

Ride Superman Ride of Steel as many times as you can! It IS the number one coaster on the planet!! I'd trade places with you, but as you can see I'm going to Borgata this weekend. I didn't ride Supe last weekend as it was SO cold out... my coaster friend has not forgiven me (I did however turn $200 into $600 at Mohegan Sun ) graemlins/biggthumpup.gif
So you don't get sick, just follow the track... if your eyes know where you're going, your ears will stay in equilibrium. Do not close your eyes!

As the time gets closer, I'll know for sure if I'll be able to make it, but it's looking good. I will have to be there 3/17-19... because I can't miss school, but it is my last semester and I should only have one or two classes so you never know!!!! I can't wait for the T2V party bus!
