Has anyone been to the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas? Do they give good comps and stuff?

we visited while we were out in vegas this week, and the machines seemed lose. i won on some table games, but never tried for comps. they say free t-shirt if you sign up for the players club (advertised on the sign outside the hotel) but when you get in, they say you have to play for 30 minutes, and after i did that and tried to get my shirt, they said i had not gotten enough points on my card. o-well.

I think it depends on the time of year...the Trop is one of few (only?) hotels that keep their pools and jacuzzi's open 24 hours...that may not be a big deal in the winter, but when it is warm out, it Rocks!! Especially if you are going with other people...we had our class reunion in Vegas a couple of years ago, and a bunch of us stayed at the Trop and had an absolute blast! 24 hr. pools, a liquor store and cigar shop on premises, and plenty of reasonbly priced table games ($5). There was also a restaraunt that stayed open 24 hrs, which definitely came in to play a couple of times. Oh, and there is a pretty good comedy club there as well. Really a lot of opportunity for fun in one place.
I would stay there again.
Not sure about the comps..didn't try.

Hi all. First post but really wanted to help VegasKathy out on this one. We stayed at the Trop from Dec. 23 to the 26 2001. We signed up for the slot club right away and only played nickles. We buggeted 100 a day between the 2 of us to gamble. We only spent about 150 with wins and such. We had booked rooms in the Garden section but we got moved before 24 hours were up because the people above us were very noisy and we could not get any sleep anytime of the day or night. They were super and upgraded us to the Paridise tower. Not a penny more per night either. (VERY FRIENDLY about it too) Drinks flowed freely no matter what you wanted all hours of the day. When we drank beer we actually had to keep telling the waitress no more. I can not believe how great the service was. Tipping .50 a beer. (this was not our first experience with that, we stayed there cause of how friendly they were on a previous trip) Anyway, to make a long story shorter we got all food ( ate at cafe 3 times, room service 2 times) and 2 nights comped. Total of our bill for 5 meals and 3 nights and phone calls (had quite a few because of Christmas) was around 50 bucks. We also got a cash back(actual cash) of $47. I thought we did super and I love it there. Then 2 nights ago I got a letter from the Trop for 2 free nights in March or April plus 2 free show tickets to any of thier shows, food coupons and $10 in coins. I called to ask if this is available on weekends also and they said yes. Now I just have to convince husband we have to do this. smile.gif I personally would never stay any where else and will do almost all my gambling there. We had a blast and didn't cost us a fortune. Hope this helps.
Hello mello, always happy to see a new helpful poster smile.gif

Welcome, Mello. Sounds like you had a wonderful time at Tropicana. Our one day stay was $12 with comps and an upgrade and a phone call. smile.gif
Thanks for sharing. Hope you get back there to use that great offer!

Thanks for the welcome. Just another update. We got another letter this week from the Trop for free entry to thier slot tournement. It is for 2 nights free and a couple meals with entry to the tournement also. I couldn't believe it. Another one I probably can't take them up on. Still working on the one for March, April but tax time always hurts us. Then just when I am thinking we can manage it, airline prices jumped. Went from $200 to $280 in the last 4 hours. (ps your board seems so nice and friendly, nice to be here.)

Thank you all for my question about the Tropicana. I believe that is where we're going to stay.
