I'd luv to hear from anybody that sees the new AVA lounge (ex Lagoon Saloon) at the Mirage and know what you think of it. It's scheduled to open toady (6/27). The hotel says it will still have a tropical theme but be a bit more contemporary..... hmmmm, what exactly does that mean? LOL Thanks, Dean

Hey Dino, it's me Louie. Remember that night at the Sands in '63? The night Frank wanted to fight that PanAm Pilot over that blonde dame and you and me broke it up? Those were the days.

I was at the Mirage last week 6/22-6/27 the lounge did not appear to be ready for opening on the 27th, now I could be wrong but they were still working away Friday morning when I went to check out.

Louie...I do remember, what a wild night! I luv Frank but sometimes he sure got fired up when he had a few drinks...glad we were never like that.. LOL:beer: I'd luv to play the SANDS just one more night, I can taste that Martooni and those olives now graemlins/goofy.gif ahhh.... the good ol' days
LVLady ~ they may have not opened until the evening. Even when it was the Laggon Saloon, they never opened until evening time. When we were there in May, they were just finishing the Paradise Cafe out at the pool and the day it was scheduled to open they were finishing carpet and brining in new furniture. But come 10AM it was done and they were open for biz...it was amazing, they must've had 30 people working. I hope AVA is a cool place...we missed the Saloon being open when we were there in May.

Dino,
Like I said it didn't look possible but one never knows...I have to say after all the talk Mirage gets on this board, I was a little disappointed. Maybe I just like TI a bit better, the bathrooms are larger and the color schemes better. I will say the pool at Mirage is the best on the strip though! We didn't go to the dolphin bar but it looked very cool, does anyone know if that is open to the public?

LVLady....I do know that you have to have an "active" room key to get into the pool area which is where the Dolphin bar is, so I guess the answer to your question is no. If you stay at the Mirage again, ask for an upgrade to a Tower Deluxe Room... they have a larger and nicer bathroom. The rest of those rooms are basically the same as the std. room. Dino

Dino they did upgrade us when I complained about a few minor things and the room was great. I would not stay again unless I was promised that room, and I am not sure it is worth $50 more a night. As for the key, they never actually checked our key to make sure it was active when we entered the pool area. This surprised me as I would think those keys are easy to take and use again to enter the pool. Treasure Island changes the key bi weekly I think so that pool attendants can tell if the guest is supposed to be there or not.

Hunter..did you ever get a chance to check out the AVA lounge at the Mirage? Luv to hear what anybody else has seen too. When we were there in May, we really liked the changes at the Paradise Cafe out at the pool but the AVA was still under renovation. ~Thanks Dino
