Apparently no one has had any questions about weddings in Vegas. Did you??

I got married a long time ago (not in Vegas) so I have nothing to ask or add.

There are several very good wedding-equivalent places like this on the web, the best of which has a Vegas-specific board, so we just don't get a lot of brides dropping in.

Yeah, we get Vegas addicts who knew about us and THEN start thinking about a wedding graemlins/biggthumpup.gif But we're always here to answer legitimate questions or harass the unsuspecting tongue.gif ;) Or promote the recently published works of resident "experts" graemlins/nworthy.gif

I'm thinking renewing wedding vows by Elvis. Wouldn't that be something? I also saw the helicopter tour into the grand canyon and getting married at the bottom. Supposedly they give you champagne and a cake--for a few thousand bucks. Isn't it hot at the bottom of the grand canyon? The icing on the cake would probably melt.

Lotsa people do Elvis. Lotsa people.

As far as I know, most if not all of the wedding/renewal ceremonies take place atop the lesser-known, less-spectacular West Rim. And when it comes to marriages (not renewals), very few officiates are licensed in both states so the ceremony is handled in Nevada.

If you need help ... (http://www.huntingtonpress.com/quicklooks/neonnuptialsQL.pdf)

Shameless plug

Ken, Did you do any research on where people were from that got married in Vegas? I would think the majority would come from California.

Ah, come on, first book, first child. I've been rather quiet about this of late. LOL

More Californians than even Nevadans (about 50 percent are Golden Staters). Nevadans are about even with foreign nationals. Of non-Americans, the UKers reign supreme.

When we finally married, we were Vegas locals, but all the plans were made when we lived in Chicago. While planning, I developed friendships with dozens of LV Brides that live all over the world.

We are going on a "scouting" expedition in May...
looking for a scenic spot, rather than a chapel type atmosphere, for a small group of maybe 10-12 people. Any ideas or recommendations are welcomed! Looking at casino websites, Rio has a poolside spot, Flamingo has a waterfall spot, I don't know if they allow ceremonies in the gardens at Bellagio???

Thanks,
Bud & Chris

I'd tell you that someone here has written a comprehensive review of Vegas chapels/wedding venues but shilling is so declasse.

Thats, right, someone did write something like that. Haven't read it myself, but I've heard it's the BEST thing written on the subject yet.

(just having a little fun - for those who don't know, it's ken's book and you can find it here:

Just an FYI Ken--

I was over at the palatial office suites of Huntington Press last week, and your book was occupying a place of honor, center of the shelf, eye level, right as you walk in. Of course it said "For Display Only", so if I wanted it, I'd have to steal it...

Maybe if I ever become betrothed, I'll take the little lady over there to create a diversion and we'll get us a copy... :D

I have a special autographed first edition I'd be happy to loan to anyone. Of course, you have to read it in my house, wearing special archival-quality gloves.....

Doc, can we consider it the Michael Mina of books? Or maybe the Emeril Lagasse of books?

Mikey, you get hitched and we'll see if we can't make sure you don't have to embark on a life of crime just to get to the altar.
