We are renewing our vows. We wanted to get married in Vegas the first time, but couldn't afford it. (Man if I only knew it was THIS cheap - LOL!)

Shalimar is a chapel recently constructed in a corner of the lobby at the Howard Johnson's between the Strip and downtown. The chapel is clean and rather simple/straightforward, but I have found the manager and employees to be, shall I say, more than reticent to answer questions about the facility. That doesn't seem like a good thing for a service provider. On a positive note, the Cuban restaurant across the lobby is killer.
What exactly are you looking for with these chapel/wedding posts? We have a few recent/current Vegas brides here and I've written a travel and wedding guidebook that critically examines pretty much every wedding venue in town, so answers are available. However, I've found that direct questions tend to engender more responses around here than nonquestions.

I guess that isn't very clear. It sounds like a lot, for a small amount of money - and that set off my possible scam radar. I was just wondering if anyone has done this deal - and could tell me if it is for real.
Thanks for the information regarding the building.

You can get married in Vegas for as little as $80/$95 bucks, depending on who's presently running the $25/$40 no-frills wedding specials ($55 is for the license, but you're already married so that's moot).
What you've stumbled across is a wedding broker, someone who steers people to one of some number of chapels. The package is legit (at the chapel in question) but I can't address the outfit offering it. These brokers don't give you any advantage whatsoever because you're paying the same or more than you'd pay dealing directly with the chapel, and are you really sure the conduit is legit? (When you show up at the appointed time will the chapel have any record of your purchase?) I'm not indicting the trade, necessarily, but I would advise that you always deal directly with the chapel. Directly.
Renewals carry no legal sanction though pretty much every chapel in town will take your money to say the words. It's a growing biz, too. You largely can choose any "wedding" package and then have it made to fit a renewal. Many places also have ready-made renewal packages.
But I'm still really unclear as to what you want. Are you looking for a recommendation for a place to have a renewal? If so, what kind of experience/environment do you want? (And take a copy of your marriage certificate ... the document recorded by the judge/minister after your wedding. Some chapels want to see it before performing a renewal.)

Getting married in Veges next month. Staying at the Bellagio, but cant decide on a chapel. Hotel chapels are to expensive, and most of the others, look too tacky. Can someone suggest a quaint elegent chapel. Its only the 2 of us, & we want pictures.
Thanks

Crazeecat--Ken tries not to shill for himself, but I'll tell you--go pick up a copy of Neon Nuptials (or order it online--amazon has it, among other places) Ken (co-moderator in this forum) wrote a book about getting married in Vegas--he reviews all sorts of chapels!! Tons of great information for Vegas wedding planners;)

Thanks for your help!
Little Chapel of the Flowers was very nice.
We've been looking for a picturesque spot for a small wedding. So far Flamingo looks good with a few outdoor spots, one near a waterfall...
any other suggestions? Rio also has a spot by their pool, usually used after pool closes.
Thanx for any suggestions....
