We were married on 04.17.04 I chat on a few wedding message boards and thought I'd share our wedding vendor reviews here too, in hopes our experience will help any futures brides.
Mandalay Bay A
Our package included a night stay in a honeymoon suite; we also booked an additional 2 nights. Upon check in we tried for an upgrade, we were given an executive suite. The room was large with an amazing Jacuzzi tub and an excellent view. The hotel was extremely crowded over the weekend, elevators took forever and valet was full most of the time & Fri night it took almost an hour to find a parking spot in the garage.
MB ~ Chapel by the Bay A
I was very pleased with the WC’s throughout all the planning. However, when I had called to make a change with GM bouts they never corrected it, so we were one bout short. They did quickly substitute an ivory rose for the stephanotis bout. Overall, the WC did a good job of keeping us calm and keeping everything organized.
We needed both chapels since we had 80 guests, the look of the two rooms combined is quite different from just one, but it still looked very nice. We had pianist for the ceremony, which was a nice touch, however none of the music sounded like the songs we choose to be played. I’m not sure why that was, but no one knew any difference except Frank & I.
Rev. Sandra Robbins married us…she performed a beautiful ceremony. Everyone including us loved vows and her readings, advice, etc. There was hardly a dry eye in the chapel. Words that I’ll never forget, “Never let your yesterdays control your tomorrows…” Everything seemed personalized for us and not once did our guests or we feel rushed.
Flowers B-
All the bouquets looked beautiful from a distance, but some roses were bruised when we received them, none held up well by the end of the night. Also, my BM bouquets were not designed correctly, but I was the only one who knew they were wrong.
Cashman Photography A
Our video of the ceremony came out extremely well, which was very important to us because of all the family that wasn’t able to attend. Unfortunately, I don’t recall our photographer’s name, but he was great to work with. Over 90 photos were taken; we only selected those that were included in our package because they wanted $700 for the negatives or $7 each for 4x6 print. The photos taken in the chapel during the ceremony, after with the wedding party and immediate family did not come out well. All of the outside photos came out beautifully.
Luxor ~ Pharaoh’s Feast Buffet A
From the beginning I had worked with Jackie and I could not have been happier. The tables, favors, centerpieces, etc. were set up exactly as I had asked. The wait staff refilled drinks and cleared plates promptly. Not everyone was pleased with the food, but Frank & I thought it was better than the last time we had eaten there and certainly better than banquet food served at traditional weddings (most guests agreed also). The bartenders were great as well; no one seemed to mind that the only alcoholic beverage choices were beer and wine.
Brides by Deb (http://www.lasvegasweddingbeauty.com) A
We had both Deb and Justina since 6 of us in the bridal party had hair and make up done. They arrived on time and got started immediately; they were pressed for time because 2 other brides had their ceremony times bumped up by their chapels. I was amazed by my hairstyle because it remained perfect for well over 15 hours; it survived rain and 30-40mph wind gusts too.
Fit For a Bride (http://www.fitforabride.net) B (I’m probably being very nice here)
Debi had done a fabulous job with all my alterations. I was thrilled with her reasonable prices and I also rented my necklace and purchased jewelry from her…All of which I was completely satisfied with.
However, Fri. when my mom picked up my dress, Debi told her the slip I was supposed to have was rented to another bride on Thurs. and had not been returned so she substituted the slip (that all my alterations were made for) with another and it should work fine. After I had heard, LUCKILY, I was smart enough to try the dress on to see how the new slip worked. It was HIDEOUS!!! (I could kick myself a hundred times for not going to pick up the dress myself, rather than running errands all over town).
It was 11:30pm we tried calling Debi, but no answer. With no idea of what else to do, we piled in the car and went to her house. At midnight, I’m holding my dress practically in tears, ringing her doorbell. Her husband woke her, and we tried every slip she had on hand…said and done, I ended up wearing 2 slips to get the effect my original slip had. In the end it worked out fine, but I was really upset that I was never told this could’ve been a possibility.
Picture me in Vegas (http://www.picturemeinvegas.com) A
Karen was great to work with! She had a limo for us, which was greatly appreciated. The weather was horrid for the tour, but we made the best of it. We had pictures taken at Luxor, LV sign, Venetian, and Bellagio. However, they didn't turn out as well as we had hoped. Our disappointment had nothing to do with Karen, it was due to the weather. We had booked 1.5 tour, but it took 2 hours. We were only her second local couple that has had a photo tour; she was very intrigued by this…
Men’s Warehouse (http://www.menswearhouse.com) A
All of our wedding party was out of town, they were measured at their local stores and we picked up at the store in Sahara Pavilion (Sahara/Decatur). We were extremely pleased with the tuxes and MW customer service. They had a few mix-ups with the tuxes for the GM’s, but they corrected the problems on the spot. Only complaint was the shoes were very uncomfortable for the guys.
Wedding Expressions (http://www.weddingexpressions.com/) A+
I was extremely pleased with ordering my dress over the Internet. WE was great to work with and I saved over $500 by ordering through them, rather than the bridal store where I tried it on.
Honest Foods (http://www.honestfoods.com) A+
Our favors were chocolate poker chips after searching hundreds of sites they had the best price. They shipped two days after I ordered them and the chocolate was good quality.
Ebay A+
I purchased my veil, bun ring and Chinese take out boxes from various sellers on Ebay. I was extremely satisfied with my purchases and I saved tons of money.
