$55 for a marriage license, traveler's check or cash. $55 -- cash, exchange amount, or traveler's check -- for a civil service by a county marriage commissioner. A Chapel by the Courthouse -- a little, ramshackle, dour place by the courthouse -- does it for $40.

Hope no one has a shotgun to your back.

My husband and I were married 4/03,( stayed at Flamingo) called ahead to make reservations thru "little white wedding chapel" they have a drive-thru deal, they picked us and the rest of the party at the hotel in a lincoln town car stretch limo, took us to the court house where we purchased the marriage license, then took us to the chapel, we opted to stand outside the limo for the ceremony for the improved photo opportunities and video tape of the wedding. Our package with flowers, video, photographs (they take the pics, give you the film to get developed) limo etc, came to approx 150 dollars. The people were very friendly and accomadating, had a really nice minister and borrowed someone elses Elvis for photos. Couldn't have been a more perfect or organized event, I loved it and would recomend them to any one! They also had much cheaper packages available. Congrats!

Chaz ... thanks for sparking my memory:

A Special Memory Wedding Chapel's drive-thru window is $25 plus vig for the minister. The chapel's downtown at 4th and Gass, looks like a NE church complete with steeple. Of course, the drive-thru window looks like a drive-thru window, and all the services offered are on a menu. Cute. A Little White Chapel's drive-thru window is actually a drive-thru portico, with clouds and cherubs and other stuff painted on the ceiling. It was the first d-t in town. Chapel of Love also has a window. To me it's the least interesting of the three.

Molson, beware the "minister scam," particularly at the little independent chapels. You'll see prices for a package -- which to this dim bulb seems to mean all-inclusive -- only to learn that if often doesn't include the minister fee or gratuity.

My hubby and I did the simple civil service with the Commissioner of Civil Marriages... cheap and quick, while being sedate and not cheesy, which is exactly what we wanted. Only thing is, you have to provide your own witness-- since we were alone, we ended up waiting until a couple showed up who agreed to be our witnesses.

We were very happy we went this route. Way we figured it, why drop major $$$ on a fancy wedding when there are so many other things we'd rather spend it on? We weren't big on the trappings and ceremony, we just wanted to be married. graemlins/laughing.gif

I'm getting in August. Las Vegas Garden of Love Wedding Chapel. For $99, limo from hotel to courthouse, chapel, back to hotel, photos, bouquet, music. A few more things. Pretty good deal, I think, for $99. I have no idea what the place looks like. As long as it's legal, though, that's all that matters! ;)

Check out the website lasvegasgardenoflove

You'll probably need to add a $25.00 tip to the limo driver and $40.00 tip to the minister.

Congrats!

Another bonus of the civil wedding--no tipping!!

My mom got married St Patrick's Day, 2001,by a county commissioner person. Her name was Pat Kelly. We loved it!!! (my mom is Patty, I'm Kelly :D ) For her, it was the perfect wedding--she wanted quick, she wanted cheap, she got me there because it was Vegas, we all went out for margaritas afterwards (10 am graemlins/biggthumpup.gif ) then watched the St Patricks Day parade downtown.

Then they drove around southern Utah for their honeymoon since they don't really like Vegas....Perish the thought!!!

Linda--one of the icons above posts is to Private Message (PM) someone through the board. Just move your cursor over the icons and you'll see which one it is. It's two people shaking hands with an envelope in the background.

I just tried it and it says I can't do it because I blocked it out for myself...

If you notice, I don't have that icon on my posts. I don't know what I did to do that though.
