Does anyone know anything about this resort? I just came across it on Vegas.com. It looks beautiful. Is it worth staying off-strip for?
They say it has a shuttle to the strip. Does anyone here know how late it runs?

But the do not mention the shuttle.
Looks like a nice place, I will have to check it out. Thanks for posting it.

GVR is in Henderson. It is just off the I215 expressway sout of town It is a 15-20 min drive to the south end of the strip from there. I don't know if they have a shuttle. They may have one to the Airport. It is located in one of the newer posher suburbs of Henderson and caters to a "local" crowd. I have never stayed there but I have played there. Lots of VP ( the locals are big VP'ers and have an eye for the good paytables). BJ was marginal last time I was there. The DD game was cut in half, didn't play the 6D but it's usually 1.5-2 cutoff. Casino is medium sized.
They are a "Stations" casino so they may have a shuttle that runs between their affiliated joints, none of which are on the strip or downtown.

This is an incredible hotel that is very stylish and is very favored by celebrities who want to play in Vegas without the usual crush of the srtip. The pool area is incredible. We've eaten at 3 or 4 of their restaurants and they are all very good. We've had mixed luck in the casino but what else is new. We liked it a lot but can not tell you about the rooms as it is the closest casino to our new house.
I think you'd be a lot happier here if you had a rental car.
In Dec. 2002 we thought the GVR buffet was fabulous (and even better had a 2-for-1 coupon from Las Vegas Advisor). Video poker pay tables were very good.
If you stay there, please graemlins/wiggle.gif write a trip report on the hotel side of the operation. It is tempting to stay there, but rates always seem very pricey to be isolated in Henderson. It is sometimes more expensive than Venetian! when I've checked rates.
Also, fyi, I think Las Vegas Advisor subscribers get a coupon for 3 nights for the price of 2 there.
Good luck.
Great pool area, secluded locale, classy environment and outstanding buffet (especially with LVA 2-1). Worth a trip out.
