My DH & I are planning a 15th wedding anniversary trip in early July. We need to find a hotel room & someone said that the Palms was nice. It looks a little "wild". Any comments on 2 in their mid-40's & not taking their kids to this hotel????? We thought about maybe staying at Rio & just walking across the street to check it out. We did stay at the Rio once & liked it alot.

Have not stayed at the Palms but we have played video poker and Texas hold'em poker there and love the New Mexico food @ Garduno's.

My impression is that Palms markets itself to locals of all ages for gambling, etc. especially midweek. Then it pitches its supposed hipness, bar scene and trendy pool to young bigger-spending Californians on the weekends.

As 40-somethings we were comfortable there midweek and got a nice summer room offer thru the slot club that tempts us. The hotel tower is tall but not that big -- some have observed that this means no long hallways to elevators!

I would have to say that I think that if you are going mid-week then you will probably be OK, but if you are going on Thur-Sun you might want to look elsewhere. The Palms is owned by the Maloof Brothers - billionaire bachelor brothers who are working hard to make this the hottest, hippest place in Vegas. Lots of celebrity sightings - Britney Spears and Leo DiCaprio to name just two.

Rain, the ghostbar, and Skin are very propular places on the weekend with the 20-something crowd - with long waits at each to get in - so lots of people milling about. i have eaten at Guarduno's and loved it. Very good chips and salsa. Good luck and HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

Id love to stay there (being mid 20's) but I have only 1 request, the Real World Suite. For those not familar, the MTV shot Real World shot there last year and the room was awsome.

Thanks everyone for all your input. Since we are going mid-weed (Sun-Wed), we booked the Palms! It just looks a little different & I wanted a smaller hotel this trip & wanted to try staying off the strip.

Eventhough I booked a standard room, I hope I can get something on a little higher floor. So hopefully everything will work out & who knows maybe we'll be as lucky as my uncle from LA who won 3 Royal Flushes out of the 4 times he's played there.
Thanks again.
