Hi everyone,

I will be downtown Nov. 9 through 12th.
Staying at the Golden Nugget.

Any help will be appreciated.

Will be looking for Blackjack mostly, but maybe some Craps. Where can I find a good game? I mostly play at the red level, but may try a little green action. Has anyone played Blackjack in the GN's high bet area? What is the minimum bet? What are the rules? How many shoes, or is it CSM?

I know that George Carlin will be at the MGM Grand and The Smothers Brothers will be at the Hilton. Has anyone seen either one recently? Any comments or recommendations? Have I missed anyone else who will be in town?

What is the current state of the Horseshoe?

Where can I get a great $35 meal, no buffets, not including drink, tax, and tip? But maybe including Filet Mignon.

Anyone else going to be Downtown those dates? Anyone else going to be attending George Carlin or The Smothers Brothers on those dates?

Thanks in advance.

Big Jack, I love downtown and envy you!

My favorite places to play BJ are 4Queens and Binions. Best place for nice meal? Try the Redwood Grill at the California.

I saw the Smothers Brothers this summer. I thought they were great (although probably a little past their prime. Whether or not you'd like it might depend on how old you are. Are you old enough to remember their t.v. show?) Their opening act was... o.k., the name is not coming to me at the moment... but he was a riot. I thought the show was a great buy for the $.

Yeah, your best blackjack games will be at Binions Horseshoe or the Las Vegas Club...your best craps games will likely be at Main Street Station, Lady Luck, or Fitzgeralds. Probably El Cortez too, but I've never been there, only going on what I've heard. Most of the "canopy" casinos only offer 5x odds on craps, MSS has 20x, and the Fitz now has 10x.

Golden Nugget is a great hotel to stay at, but I don't much care for gambling there, with so many other choices with better odds and lower limits within walking distance.

I believe Dennis Miller will be at the Mirage that weekend, too.

I saw Carlin when he had a LONG layoff from Vegas about 8 or 9 years ago. It was sort of sad, he kept forgetting his material. All the same funny acts including "Stuff..." I'm sure things are better now!

I heard the Smothers Brothers are sort of lame, and this came from a person who loved them when they were really popular.

As far as gaming, Mikey hit it on the head...

Hope that helps!

If your looking for handheld games,I'd say try
Binions and El Cortez;and Western if you dare!!
If you like playing shoe games, your better off
playing on the Strip.(better rules)

If you DO happen to wander to El Cortez by some
chance,(at gunpoint) a word to the wise,the
"Sweaty Spaniard" will pay VERY CLOSE attention
to ANY SIGHTING of GREEN CHIPS!! I love that
place but the words "green-out" or "black-out",
seems to really get the pits attention.Have FUN
DOWNTOWN!!!
