At last, I’m free! I can finally think about something I have not done in 16 months! Vegas baby! Do you believe that? The way time is flying it didn’t seem that long ago, but when I look back I’m freaked out! That’s not right for a 25 year old guy, is it?
Okay now, let me take a deep breath and swallow hard!
I plan on doing a few things I have not done before on my 10th trip to LV! These plans are not in order. I’m just talkin’ and typin’ at the same time.

Mr. Wynn is seeking approval from Clark County to reconfigure the Desert Inn Golf Course next week when I’m there. My hopes are that just maybe drawings mapping out the new configurations for the course will be in the Wynn Resorts building and will include the area Wynn has set aside for his new house and Le Rêve.

I’m taking my telephoto in hopes that a few “steel trees” will be popping up out of the ground. According to the very poor image file of a construction time frame linked below, the high rise and new parking garage should be in progress now.

Hunter noted one time all the changes that are at Treasure Island. A new bar set to replace the Gold Bar could be done already and I plan to take pictures before or after I check out the Fashion Show Mall and Le Rêve. I doubt I’ll be able to get into the new night club where the Hideaway Lounge used to be. All they can say is no.

Mandalay Bay construction of the convention center will be the next stop. I’ll also check out the retail bridge too. And how could I forget about the new tower! I want to see how they are making that shoe horn fit.

9/11 Memorial @ NYNY. When Ashley Banfield formerly of Fox News was in LV, she said this would be done. And the NYNY Hotel/Casino website confirms this:

I’m bound to shed a tear or two there or maybe more. UNLV seems to have some interesting plans on how they will archive shirts and other things at their library. I’ll also take a peak inside NYNY to see if their other memorial is still there too.

Venetian expansion Phase 1b. Got to see this project and I’m also going to check out the Guggenheim. I love motorcycles, but frankly would never buy one since I prefer the bugs on a windshield, not my teeth. No offence I hope. Anything with a motor gets my heart pumpin’. Hmm, maybe that’s why I’m driving.

I’m really curious about that Caesars Palace sign and Celine Dion’s “little” 4,000 seat theater. I still think it’s a really big gamble even if Wynn’s entertainment director Franco Dragone is involved. Hope they can fill it. PPE stock went up when the CEO of Park Place was asked to leave, but it seems to be heading down again.
Caesars by the way is seeking approval for a more permanent special events center next week too.

Another Park Place property I want to see is Paris. I want to see what they are doing out front of their property.

Okay, final little thing I want to do….
Also on my list of non-construction related things… Must see:
Ethel M cactus garden at David Berman’s suggestion
Fremont Street to see what’s up over there. This was something Ms.P brought up.
Also, I might pop into the Frontier and Tropicana to pick up some chips:
The Frontier might be gone next time I’m there and when Aztar Gaming releases their 2nd or so quarterly report around Spring or Summer, the Trop might be ready to drop by then too. Studies are still apparently being done. Wandering if a recent stock buy back of Aztar Gaming had anything to do with this?
I’ll be leaving Wednesday but making a few stops along the way in Tucson and Phoenix, Arizona to get some parts I need to make some house repairs.
Oh….by the way, I’m taking my first gamble. Not in Vegas though. We will be staying at the Strat after all. We are keeping the cat at the house and hope that he won’t run out of the house with my brother on watch. If anyof you want to meet, maybe I can squeeze something in. I’ll wear my Las Vegas NYE 1999 T-shirt and I’ll be the one flirting with the cute girls from UNLV music department at Roxy’s! ;)
