Golden Nugget: dining report

The Nugget's coffee shop, Carson St. Cafe,
was not that great. Late night specials
that some folks recommend have been
discontinued (steak, pancakes). A waiter
told me the specials have been gone for
two months. I found this a bummer at
3:30 a.m. Saturday.

At a normal breakfast time, 9 a.m. Sunday,
service was slow. Lox and bagel plate was
OK, but the bagel was cold, the tomatoes
and vegetable garnish had little flavor.

Although I'd tried to avoid buffets, it
turned out that, at least for breakfast,
Golden Nugget's buffet was the best deal
(between $5 and $6 I think). Food, including
fruits and veggies, were fresh and tasty and
the servers were very good about beverage
refills.

I hate to hear that about the Carson Street Cafe. Last year we had great service and terrific food there and we are staying aat the Golden Nugget again next month. We had a late lunch at the Buffet and it was very good also.
