I will be staying at the IP next week. Any recommendations on restaurants/buffets near the IP. I am not looking for expensive places but descent meals at a cheap price?

How cheap is cheap? There are lots of places to eat at IP that are cheap, but .. well.. yuck! I don't like that place so I don't really eat there.

You're close to Casino Royale, Flamingo, Harrahs and Barbary Coast that have inexpensive eats. You're not too far from the Grand Lux at Venetian, but not what I'd call cheap.. inexpensive, but not cheap.. not $1.99 all you can eat. http://www.travel2vegas.com/ubb/smile.gif

I'm looking for good food for under $10 a person if it is possible.

You could try the food court at the Venetian. There is a some variety and a lunch or dinner can be had for less than $10.

Boardwalk has some good cheap ($1.99) food at the snack bar. Just stay away from the buffet.

Pick up the tourist coupon books. You can usually find 2 for 1 coupons for The Orleans buffet (quite good). We also found coupons for the Main Street Station buffet (also quite good).

What's wrong with the Boardwalk buffet?

I didn't eat there, but I walked in and looked around. It looked decent and the price (6.99) was right. Plus, it's open 24 hours a day.

The boardwalk snack bar does have some good deals, but it gets awfully crowded and they were VERY understaffed (and not using the staff they had very efficiently!) when I was there a few weeks ago. The burger I had was really, really good, though.

Under 10 bucks? Man, I hate to tell you, but you'll probably be eating at breakfast buffets and fast food places your whole trip. O'Sheas is near the IP and has a food court with Burger King and stuff in it. . .

*Not* near IP: The Stratosphere lunch buffet is a GREAT deal. Tons of tasty food from different stations. Mexican food, Spaghetti and Pizza. Big salad bar, carving station, baked fish and the traditional fare, too.. Plus, they had Bananas Foster for dessert. It doesn't get much better than that!

It was better than some of the dinner buffets I had and was only priced at like, 7.99. The dinner buffet is basically the same thing and priced way higher. It's only a good deal at lunch, trust me.

You can eat pretty will in Las Vegas for under $10. I know because I do. The only difference between some of those under ten dollar meals and a $30.00 meal here at home is that you are in Las Vegas.
A million dollar atmosphere, motif, and food servers dressed in theme costumes doesn't make a meal double the price any better, only more costly. Now there is nothing wrong with enjoying an evening meal at a fine restaurant, but that doesn't make less costly meals trash either; it depends on your priorities.

If you're staying at IP, I would definitely eat a few meals at Ellis Island.

Ask for the Steak Dinner Special for $4.95.

As I recall, Ellis Island is on Koval (behind Bally's).

Have a great trip

Well, Jim. I respect your expertise and experience (especially since your CAT directions got me around so well when I was in Vegas in November)..so have at it?

Where do you eat well for under 10 bucks?

I'm seriously having a hard time answering with anything but fast food. A sandwich and fries and a drink will cost you easily 10 bucks (more with tip) at almost any small cafes or deli's in the strip hotels. It may be easier to eat cheaper off strip, but then you do need to factor in a) how much it costs you to get there b) the time it takes to get there and c) if you're goign to enjoy yourself there, anyway.

Sure, I could eat cheaper downtown. But it's going to cost me 4 bucks roundtrip. And easily 2 hours (3-4 if it's a busy day or near the weekend) on the bus. So I guess it all depends on your goals and game plans. . .
